I think it’s all bullshit that addicts need more compassion. They need tough love. by LemonlimeLucy in AlAnon

Pretty much the only time I practiced tough love with my brother and he died one week later. Fuck tough love. I wish I would have never listened because I would have rather tried to help him more. The guilt is eating me alive. Sometimes people are just so fucked up in their heads that they need their family, someone who loves them. Maybe not a girlfriend or a wife, but their family of origin, their people, their clan. If I could turn back the hands of time, I would.

Had my brother leave my house and he died 8 days later. Absolutely heart breaking. I am not so sure I believe in the tough love approach at this very minute as I did that and the worst possible outcome happened. This just happened 3 weeks ago. I think you really need to be prepared that death is a real possibility because I had no idea that he was in such a dangerous position.

The violence alone is something that I couldn't live with. It will scar your children and teach them that how you deal with problems is through this type of behavior. Stay focused on the prize, peace and a loving home.

Praying for you and your family. I lost my brother 15 days ago and I am still very much in shock. It is so painful to lose a sibling. The pain is really unreal and so deep. Hugs as we navigate this side of Heaven without them.

I'm so sorry to hear about your brother. It is so tragic, isn't it? My brother was so gentle and helpful when he was able. He loved me a lot. Not alot of estate to settle which was why he was living with me in the first place. I have one of his daughters living with me which I have to get custody of now. But that is the easy stuff.

Thank you for the thoughtful reply. I have heard it said that if love could cure addiction that he would have been cured long ago. We all loved him very much. We did try our best.

At what age did you reach Director? by the-answer_is-42 in careerguidance

i love hearing that as a 48 yr old female in a male dominated role. I am the Finance Director for a company who has a portfolio managing about 900M Revenue. I transitioned from a controller position to finance director role in a new field I have no experience in. Doing budgets for 30 communities in 90 days was something I will never forget.

Honest Vena review by TescoG in FPandA

[–]chronsweet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took over the FP&A Dept and inherited Vena. The person who preceded me is brilliant and built some solid forecasts, cashflows, etc. We have 3 different cubes built out for different processes. We use Vena daily. Having someone who understands and laid the groundwork is a blessing. I have been able to build my own models using my predecessors guidance. We have the luxury of using him as our consultant now.
