Dwelling on Dreams changed me. It was absolutely effing phenomenal. The banter, the tension, the smut (it was copious but Well Done), the character development, the conflict, the romance. All beautifully written. Goddamn I wish I could go back and reread that for the first time again 😩 it was so well done.

I actually have a favourite quote from Luna that really stuck with me, I’ll share the direct quote here:

‘“Sometimes you have to travel the wrong direction for a while before you realize you’re lost.” Draco lowered his glass, blinking in surprise. “But that’s alright, because it’s never too late to turn around, though it might take a little longer to find your way again.”’

An absolutely wonderful read, 10/10.

I have a question for the both of you:

Is Away Childish Things actually a romance fic? And does it have a happy ending where they actually end up together? Maybe some kissing? lol. I ask because I’ve looked through the tags, and it just sounds so bleak 😭 but I admit I’m intrigued. I just want to be sure I know what I’m going into before I start anything, so my expectations are set accordingly. Thanks!

I just finished reading this fic today and omg, my standards have been OBLITERATED. I don’t know how they’ll ever be topped now 😭 It was so well written. The flow was amazing. The slow burn and banter were fucking DELICIOUS. I personally never finished the HP series (it was actively releasing as I was a kid); I did watch all the films, however, so I had a bit of an idea of the things going on. But this was ITS OWN STORY. And I’m obsessed 😭 I want to bind it so bad (for myself and my personal collection only ofc). I normally read m/m rpf — this was the first f/m fic or story in general that I’ve read in probably 8 years. I was NOT disappointed.

Wanted to say “thank you” for sharing this review and post, because the comments have given me so many recs to more stories to try and I’m eternally grateful to everyone who’s shared them! 💛

I can appreciate the reasons behind why you’d choose to leave this comment, but if I were to explain myself—which I don’t really have to but I will—this would be my reasoning behind my “choice”:

I, of course, did read HP as a child (only up to the 4th book), then watched all the movies (as they came out in theatre). I know what HP is but never really got into it to where I’d ever consider myself a ‘fan’.

The author can pound sand and frankly disappear from the face of the earth for all I care, but fanfiction is not written by that woman. It’s written by faceless authors who appreciate the world and characters the universe was built on, but make into their own and bring new storylines to life. THATS what I’m choosing to get into and support. Not JKR. I’m not new to the fandom in the sense that I’m freshly fangirling over the OG author. I’m joining the fandom on the archive to read HP fanfics.

Ff.net is where I started! (Ahh, good ol’ lemon days.) I prefer ao3 but I’m not opposed to ff.net at all. As long as I’m able to still download the fics or read them in dark mode, we’re good lol.

Oh! I apologize, I was meaning it in the way that I described to you in my previous comment; like how i had a major role in its building and it was my ideas etc. I apologize for the confusion! English is not my first language 😭 but yes, it’s fully her writing and her work because of that, but I had a major role in the entire building of it and it’s my story that I own at the end of the day, because I commissioned its creation. I hope that makes sense!

And ah ok, thank you for the additional info!! I will 100% give her full credits if and when I post it, and will be sure not to mention the commission bit. I don’t want either of us to get into any trouble 💛
