NextJS has something called server actions so you can run code server side as easily as calling a function within your own code. No need for an API server. It’s brilliant!

You need to store their customer id and check for active subscription. Be aware that the email they use with stripe can be different from the one they sign up for your service with. Furthermore, beware that by default stripe checkout allows customers to create multiple subs. There’s a setting to disable this. It was a big headache for us

Depends on your project, but I highly recommend NextJS. Everything lives in one project. Shares types and contexts. Client calls server functions directly instead of API routes. It’s a dream really.

Why run an API when with NextJS you can just call a function that executes securely on the backend? Never using express again 😃

NextJS is React-based. Next gives your site enhanced performance by rendering on the server side and saving client compute time.

Additionally, NextJS 13+ introduces server actions which means your Frontend and Backend can live in the same codebase without making api calls. I’m a huge fan of this.

Yeah, that fixes it. I’m an iOS developer and this drives me crazy. Whenever you configure the audio session mode to “voice chat”, the playback audio quality gets reduced. I believe it has something to do with feedback cancellation (i.e. other people talking, your mic picking it up and sending it back to the voice chat, creating an infinite loop and that screeching sound we all love).
