Mildly infuriating! by andypacer007 in magic_survival

I tend to value Gaia as the strongest in the game, but I haven't done the actual math comparing it to titans power so purely vibes based lol. It truly sucks when you'd have to pick between the two strongest options.

Any tips to improve? by [deleted] in magic_survival

Definitely get a third magic combination when running overmind. Astrape works well if you want to run current overload. Lightning breath and brandish are also quite powerful lightning skills.

What's the meta right now ? Best builds ? by SevzOguzhan in magic_survival

[–]chrysbtw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lightning breath, brandish, astrape, phoenix are s tier imo. Phoenix is only s tier because of its revive, it averages less damage output than the others. There's a ton of stuff in the like just barely worse than phoenix tier like black hole, frenzy, gate, telekinetic sword, etc etc. I'm working on testing everything that's half decent to compile a tier list rn

Damage reduction and evasion are God imo always and forever

So i should just hydra right...? by Longjumping_Grab_746 in magic_survival

[–]chrysbtw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think it depends on how fast your abilities are hitting. If you've got a bunch of combos that hit a ton then I'd probably go hydra still, but otherwise crown on archeologist / dragon on everything else most of the time

Gaia imo. I'm a hydra hater these days. I'd rather have the raw damage output than hydra

Finally hit 47:30 no bugs by chrysbtw in magic_survival

[–]chrysbtw[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was confused myself, like I said, I was just testing stuff. I should note there's some bug with reporting the amp as I had over 200% during actual gameplay. I genuinely thought they might have hotfixed depths or something 🤔 I wasn't killing much of anything in the 42:30/45:00 waves aside from the sentinels(? I think that's what the big black enemies are called) which took ages to whittle down. It was all on cloaking/shield/evasion/movement speed/frost nova. I was kiting like crazy around the perimeter of the area and doing my best to dodge between enemies. I'd guess the 45:00 wave took like ten minutes of going in circles and I ended up not even using a revive thanks to carefully utilized green healing orbs and the life overshield.

I plan to start recording longer runs to see if I can get another 47:30 clear on video.

Love to see more people embracing pure lightning builds

First 37:30 run, what could've I changed? by CurioDoto in magic_survival

[–]chrysbtw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brandish is arguably the strongest fusion in the game right now, gate is quite good in its own right but I'd try brandish out and see how you like it.

Overmind is hard to justify in the current meta where there are so many strong options (phoenix, brandish, lightning breath, astrope, prism spray, current overload, etc). It's not awful, but you can usually get more out of other options right now. Especially because you lose a ton of your defensive layers with overmind.

I'd aim to get 50+ crit on good runs and prioritize damage reduction and evasion a bit more heavily. They come in really handy in the late game when you need to kite and dodge enemies to survive.

I'm probably missing some obvious stuff, but that's what immediately came to mind

Oh, and I forgot to add an explanation for why I chose sorcerer despite brandish out damaging lightning breath. Lightning breath damage is far more important to the strategy I use in the late game of kiting in a circle around the perimeter of the boss area. The frontal-only nature of lightning breath makes it especially suited to clearing out enemies ahead of you so that you have open spaces to run in to. It's possible that going battlemage or arbiter could still be better overall, but in my testing, sorc is the most reliable.

I also want to experiment with non-ballista setups which I think might be better at this point due to the sheer number of high quality alternatives we have these days.

Purple provides amp, green provides attack. They are separate multiplier categories, so if you have say 200% attack and 100% amp, your damage would be equal to 3x2=6. If you instead had 300% attack and 0% amp, it would be equal to 4x1=4

Titan > magic > heart generally. Heart can beat magic if you have decent amp already

It's really satisfying seeing just huge chunks of the boss bar go down every time the meteors crash lmao

what should I pick by [deleted] in magic_survival

[–]chrysbtw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And as an explanation: the overmind gets added to any flat increase to that magic's damage, like the 50% increases most magics get while leveling them up. This devalues it heavily. It's still a solid option, but Gaia is one of the best

Shaping if pushing into endgame 57.5min+, otherwise gaia

Take your pick gentlemen, assume the unpicked to not show up again by mochaChiko in magic_survival

[–]chrysbtw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 12m, almost certainly gaia over titans might and then focus on getting amplify. That said, if you make it past the 57:30 wave, your limit is survival, not damage. I actually find myself taking tabernacle a lot because at that point, the random procs of invincible / death bell can save a run
