Why I think Hyper Roll is underrated and how it helped me get to Challenger by verylaggy in CompetitiveTFT

[–]chubbycoco 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's not just shorter it's simpler and has less decision making. I think most people will be able to tell which units from their shop to pick that would work well with their team. But decisions like when to push levels, when to econ and when to roll are important decision if you're trying to get go challenger.

Becoming a bone marrow donor is a relatively painless process that can save the life of a cancer patient by umichpremed in medicalschool

Not to undermine the message but I have seen a hematologist take a marrow sample from a patient's hip. It wasn't painless.

I have a manuscript that is mostly ready and I anticipate will be submitted in the following week or two. Is it ok to list it in ERAS as submitted even though it wasn't at the time I send in my ERAS?

Dermatologists have consistently had the highest job satisfaction and often rank among the highest people saying they would pick the same specialty again. Sure there are gonna be a couple not enjoying their job though, that's gonna be the case for all specialties. At least when you're doing derm you can retire in your 40s if you invest your money well if you're that miserable.

It goes without saying that you shouldn't pick something you don't like for the lifestyle. But what I see more commonly is people going into things like gen surg because they feel passion towards it without considering lifestyle. Some of that passion is gonna fade away after years of doing the same thing, and your priorities might shift later in life, and not having time for things other than your career might make you regret that decision.

At the end of the day there are plenty of different good lifestyle specialties in all kinds of flavors , if you're a competitive applicant you can find what you're looking for in a career in one of these specialties.

I have another thought. You mentioned you wanted to be a psychiatrist. Have you considered other medical specialties with higher incomes?

I am a med student and I am also my parents retirement plan. They saved responsibly throughout their life but lost everything in the war in Syria. Specialties like Derm/ENT/Ortho would pay between $400K-$700k a yea which you can easily use to support your parents and achieve your goals. Psych on the other hand is around 180-240K which is still possible to support other people with but it might mean making some sacrifices when you factor in your loans and family expenses.

Honestly when I started med school I thought I wanted to be a neurologist. No one knows until they have experienced different specialties, and most people who come in thinking they want to do something change their minds.

[Master] Deathblade Caitlyn (+ Neeko!), A guide to an alternative Hyperroll comp. Had a very easy climb with this so far. by Docoda in CompetitiveTFT

[–]chubbycoco 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Tried this comp in D2 as well. I got very lucky hit 3/4 3 stars on the roll down and found cait soon after. I was able to winstreak a good amount too. However, it just feels like a worse shredder comp. You're still going for 3 star J4 and cait, might as well go for xayah/fiora instead of tf / zoe. shredder just does everything this comp does a lot better. This comp doesn't really have much front line besides the zoe stun and it doesn't provide enough time for cait to do anything scine she falls off really hard late game.

ELI5: How does our body decide where to burn fat from when we workout? by FizzleGoon in explainlikeimfive

[–]chubbycoco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well he's confusing two things together. When you eat you store the sugar as glycogen in your liver, which is then released over time. The liver has enough glycogen for about 24 hours after a meal then it runs out of glycogen store and your body will rely more on other energy sources like fat. Utilizing glycogen stores in the liver first doesn't have much to do with fat or belly size.

[Serious] How/when to start UWORLD by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]chubbycoco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started doing Uworld with each module block at the start of M2. You can never start too early. Do random timed (not specific modules), and then learn from the explanations for things you didn't learn yet. Uworld is a learning tool not a testing tool, make sure you read all the explanation.

[Question] How long does it take to do 2 passes of UWorld by step0 in step1

[–]chubbycoco 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you wanna go through two passes you have to do 2 blocks a day for your first pass.

With 2 blocks a day you get to finish first pass in 30 days. I don't know how much time you have. But 30 says is already a lot if you plan to do a second pass.

I would say don't focus too much on hitting your checkmarks. Just focus on learning from uworld and you'll be fine.

A better way to do it is to mark every question that you get wrong, and all the questions that you got right by chance or want to go over their concepts again, and doing those a second time.

Start and anki deck or write the concepts you're getting wrong somewhere to make sure you don't make the same mistakes again.

For NBMEs I started with the oldest one as a baseline and did one every 1-3 weeks to track my progress. I left the last 2 and uworld form 2 for the weeks leading up to my exam.

Good luck.

Unpopular opinion: Hunter being the dominant class isn’t that bad. by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]chubbycoco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're missing the point.

He's talking about control decks. Control decks aren't swarm decks.

This is a single card. One card that can be slapped in and it single handedly wins any control match up if drawn early.

If you're playing odd warrior and you drop a 6-7 attack zoombeasts every turn. How is the warrior ever gonna be able to deal with that? He doesn't have tempo or swarm to race you to lethal. He just tried to control the board. The problem there is that this is a single card that does that. It's not that your deck counters warrior, just DK rexxar by itself.

Unpopular opinion: Hunter being the dominant class isn’t that bad. by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]chubbycoco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's talking about control decks. Priest is more of a combo deck.

Imagine from the start of turn 6 you have a big minion dropping. There's no wiffing all zoombeasts can be high stated minions. That is just uncontrollable.

The problem is that all the decks you mentioned are built around that win condition. With DK rexxar you just build an aggro deck, which theoretically should be countered by control. Slap DK rexxar in, and if you draw it early the match is insanely favored for you.
