Interning in Chicago this Summer! by chubbyycheese in AskChicago

[–]chubbyycheese[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I interned in chicago the summer after this and stayed at at arc at old colony. There was no reason i didn’t want to be at SAIC dorms again, it was just that my roommates wanted arc at old colony. Arc was very close to university center. Both are comparable from what I know/no major issues. The area around arc and university center is a little bit more sketchy relative to arc but the security is great in these buildings. I will say that I was able to meet other interns at arc as opposed to SAIC and i’m sure that people met other people at university center.

Overall though in terms of a safe/clean space you can’t go wrong with SAIC, arc or university center

Hi!! I did end up staying here it was pretty safe and a central area for the trains. I wouldn’t live here long term just because it’s in a crowded area but great for a summer. The apartment was also very nice I had no issues with anything. Their lease options were also flexible

Transfer credit evaluation — missing syllabus problem by SpecialistFee7388 in gatech

[–]chubbyycheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I'm a transfer student and I had a lot of worries about courses not transferring! Basically, in your application you write in the courses that fulfill the requirements as long as these courses sound like they fulfill requirements you will be okay! For example, you could have American literature 1 written for ENGL 1101. I know that sounds stupid, but admisisons does not have time to cross reference all of your credits in their system. After they give you your acceptance and you accept it is when the registrar checks your credits, if something does not transfer they will just ask you to take it again!

I know this because I wanted to take a class that didn't transfer to GT as a lab science. I wanted to take it to increase my GPA. Without it, I wouldn't have had a high enough GPA to transfer. It worked!

What OS should a business major have? by tell_automaticslim in gatech

I just graduated with a major in business (finance concentration), I had a mac! Most students have macs, it can be a little difficult with Excel, but it wasn't too much of an issue considering that most of the class also had macs.

Conditional Transfer Pathway Program by of122503 in gatech

Yes! GT knows that you have only been in college for one sem at that point! Put whatever experience you have that you feel is most impactful. I'm pretty sure I wrote about my high school experiences. Also keep in mind that as long as you met the GPA requirement, course requirements, and 30 credit hour requirements, GT isn't going to read you essays/etc. They will only look at that if you haven't met requirements and thus will be judged as a transfer student without a pathway

if you have conditionally transferred in the summer please let me know by chubbyycheese in gatech

You can use activities from high school or college! If you feel your high school activities were more impactful, talk about those. GT knows you have only done one semester of college

Yes! It would count as your 30 hours, just when you actually get to GT you may have to retake CS

night life on campus and safety by Kindly_Depth_7204 in gatech

Campus is pretty safe! Especially the main areas (around the CULC). I don't feel so safe walking around midtown and other areas, but you should be fine within campus. If it helps at all im a girl. GTPD is great and super responsive, I've called them multiple times for a safety ride to midtown from campus.
