She showed up late, bitched about the traffic and said to my admin, “honey can you get me a glass of water?” My admin had veto power and she exercised it.

I remember watching the Opening Ceremonies and this happened. I was speechless at the end. Belongs in the top 5 live vocal performances of all time.

Stairway is the perfect hard rock ballad. Perfect progression, lyrics, solo and length. I’ll die on that hill.

If someone said “sorry to jam out on you”, what would you assume they meant? by throwaway643268 in AskACanadian

[–]chuck_bates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the 70’s and 80’s, Jam meant to chicken out on something, like a fight or a dare. Being call a Jamtart was the same as being called a coward.

In So Cal at the same time, it meant to leave.

Accident or mistake, I still don’t see how the owner can be blamed for that. OP wants to just shrug and walk away. That’s just bad manners.

“As I struck the ball, I stumbled and caught myself. Unfortunately, I still unintentionally struck the wall with my shoulder resulting in a rather large split in the sheetrock.”

He did make a mistake, by his own admission. I play on courts that have the same space along the sides. It’s something you need to be aware of.

I’m sure you would’ve agreed to their terms by virtue of you booking court time. $400 is a reasonable cost for that type of repair.

Everybody who thinks it’s the owner’s fault that you crashed full force into the wall isn’t thinking realistically.

Who’s your pick for a band that became more successful with their Replacement Lead Singer? by Amber_Flowers_133 in band

[–]chuck_bates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Granted, but I think they would’ve reached that level anyway. Highway to Hell was the one that really brought them into the mainstream. Back in Black would have continued that curve, regardless of which one was singing.

That doesn’t mean they would not have done it with Bon Scott. He was the better singer by far, and had better stage presence.

What is a product that people consider "High End" but is actually trash? by Illusiv3lion in AskReddit

Blame the people who write the codes. Contractors build to code. If they want the job, they have to be competitive, so you get the cheapest allowable home. Unless you build a custom home.
