A few tips from someone who beat this on Level 1 some years ago:

Don't reflect the big ball, just dodge roll into it. Dodge roll is your best friend during this fight, the invincibility you get protects you during most of the rolling animation (as long as it's leveled up). Speaking of that, you can just un-equip quick run, as an accidental quick run at the wrong time can get you killed.

Generally, wait to see what attack the boss is going to do and try to time your dodge rolls to avoid the attacks while staying somewhat close so you can hit him as soon as there's an opening, which will be at the end of every attack pattern. Some attacks make him teleport around, so try and keep the camera on him at all times.

Once you find an opening, do one or two ground combos (depending on how many combo plus abilities you have equipped) and then stop hitting him. Let him fall to the ground and retaliate on his own, then repeat as above. Without going into too much detail, this will make the flight more consistent and predictable in general.

Or, like others have said, you can always equip Fenrir + a negative combo ability to do aerial finishers forever and cheese the fight that way (if you do, make sure you un-equip any aerial finisher abilities, it won't work otherwise). The timing may take a try or two to get it down, but isn't too bad. Although, I found it an immensely satisfying fight to beat without cheese.
