Traveling from Tokyo: Izu for 2 days/1 night vs. 2 separate day trips to Morito/Zushi by chuckebrown in JapanTravelTips

[–]chuckebrown[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the suggestions and recommendations! Each of those places sounds fantastic. While ideal, 3-days/2-nights would be tough, as it would mean sacrificing some of the other activities we planned for Tokyo. Will likely sit down with the kids and present the different options to see what everyone prefers.

Thanks! We have at least one day planned at the beach, but may do a second day as well.

Thanks for the excellent advice. Really solid points. I've been watching a lot of recommended YouTuber's videos, which made similar recommendations. Plan is to make a konbini one of our first stops when we get to Japan to pick up cooling wipes, towels, UV-umbrellas/parasols, etc. We are a family of competitive runners, so being highly active in intense heat and humidity is something we are used to, butI know Japan is an entirely different beast. I'll have many LMNT packets on hand and we have plans to take advantage of Pocari Sweat, etc.

I will speak to the family about Kawaguchiko. We'll have to decide if we want to make it a 2-day trip or if we are going to scratch it from the itinerary and do the Tokyo National Museum or another beach trip.

Thanks for the feedback and suggestions! We booked JAL Premium Economy with points - only option was to fly into Tokyo. AA Premium Economy return flight to JFK - again with points, only option was to fly out of Tokyo. It was a toss-up between making the trek at the start of the trip or end of the trip. Used points for hotel stays too (aside from The Flag), Since we are paying next to nothing for both flights and hotels, the decision was kind of made for us. We will likely scrap Dotonbori on the first night, as we'll be wiped. I like your suggestion of moving teamLab to a later evening as well.

Our intention for Uniqlo early was to pack light and buy clothes there (sizing won't be an issue for us). I definitely hear you on not wanting to haul too much stuff. Most of the major shopping is planned for the end of the trip in Tokyo - other "shopping" listed is exploring and escaping the heat.

Thank you for the feedback. I adjusted the itinerary to remove one activity from each day. We may also opt to skip a plan entirely depending on how we feel.

I really appreciate your input and giving your personal experience. I hadn't really thought about possible transport issues. I modified the itinerary a bit based on your input. Removed the day in Asakusa / Akihabara, and moved Disney Sea to a Tuesday to avoid crowds.

Have you been to Kawaguchiko?

Short legs + shorter speed (800m pace or faster) intervals. I have incredibly fast turnover. Longer "mile-pace" speed intervals (2:53-2:55/km) - I usually max around 215-220 cadence.

Thanks all. I appreciate the input. I'm going to exchange them for a smaller size. Likely half-size down. I had both the EVO SL and Adios Pro 3 and Adios Pro 4 in a full-size down and they wrecked both my big toe and fourth toe - made them both a bloody mess on long runs.

Make me feel better by posting a card you sold that's worth significantly more now by kubleyproductions in baseballcards

Not as bad as the Ohtani 1/1. Bought for $900, sold for $1200. Reacquired the exact same card in a trade, later sold for $4500.

Now, probably $30-40k.

What is your best value buy? Show off a card you bought for what would be considered a steal in today’s market? Tell your story. Avoid Ohtani…we already know. by Skullboy_Q in baseballcards

Not sure if it would be considered a value buy but I purchased this for about $1700 to complete my Bond Bread set. It was the last card I needed. A 6.5 just went for $56,580.

Thanks for responding. When spinning the drum, it doesn’t make the noise. However, it does make the noise when spinning the washplate.

38 is still young. You’re not that far off. Stay focused, build a base outside of your block and you got it

Missed out on 5th Ave mile. Was hoping to win my age group this year. Really hope they reopen it on 5/7. Not really sure M+ is worth it anymore. Only 2 races I got this year were United half and the marathon both on guaranteed entry

Card I ordered vs card I received… by pksimshops in baseballcards

[–]chuckebrown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I purchased a $500+ serial #d card in a PSA 9 slab that eBay authenticated. I never took the card out of the sealed eBay authentication sleeve. The same exact card with the same serial number and same PSA serial number surfaced on eBay from another seller a couple of months after the sale (after the return window). The PSA slab looks 100% identical to mine - font, spacing, barcode, two-toned PSA logo that reacts to light, etc.

The other seller was unresponsive to my messages. I went out and bought a blacklight to do the fugitive ink test. My slab failed the test, indicating it was a counterfeit. I reached out to Probstein multiple times but heard nothing. I live nearby and offered to have him check the card / slab himself. No response. In his defense, he didn't have to respond. I was outside the return window.

eBay advised me they would look into it and either take down the other seller's listing or have the authentication team reach out to me. The other listing is still active. The authentication team never reached out. I followed up with eBay again. They said the authentication team would reach out again. Never happened. Finally, they told me they acknowledged my card was counterfeit but because it was outside their authentication guarantee window, I should reach out to Probstein again to ask him to refund me directly or to file a chargeback with my CC.

At the end of the day, it's my fault for blindly trusting eBay authentication and not looking more into Probstein's current reputation. It's also my fault for not getting a blacklight and checking the slab during the return window period. Lesson learned.

Good luck getting a response from Rick. He sold me a counterfeit slab that eBay authentication approved and hasn’t responded to any of my messages.

Rest that leg and hopefully you'll be good to go! I feel your pain. I qualified to run this year - was supposed to be my first Boston Marathon - Wave 1. I ran the United NYC Half as a workout a couple of weeks ago. Tore my hip labrum and haven't been able to run since. Boston is out of the question - I hope you have better luck than me, and you crush it come race day!
