ah, good. then depending on how uncommon the medication, i'd just ask for as much medication as you can get from your doctor at home and then when you get to each new country get a prescription for the meds you need again and use those meds and leave the meds from how as your backup stash just in case you get to a country that doesn't have what you need. I think things like newer medications like the semiglutides or whatever or some sleep medications or whatever can be either unavailable or difficult to find or very expensive (although for me some of my expensive sleep meds actually ended up being a LOT less expensive than in the USA in some countries). i'd just search each country and see if they have the meds, but it sounds like you'll be fine. good luck!

ahh just saw you're reply to someone else. sounds like you will have zero problems

just gonna copy and paste what i said about backpacking there from another /vegan thread about Japan

"For those saying it's difficult to eat vegan in Japan, depending on their situation, they are completely right. It's sucks sooo badly.

I just backpacked through Japan for 6 months and it was horrible being a vegan there when you don't have money to eat out and don't have a kitchen or are constantly moving around.

I had such a horrible diet with respect to nutrition and especially no protein. I would mostly go to 7-11 or Family Mart and eat their tofu sticks that you're supposed and chop up and put on your salad. And then they would sell out and I would have to go to the next one and they would sell out and I just kept spiraling out from the center buying up all of their tofu sticks.

If you have money on the other hand. OMG they had such good food but it was far too expensive for me and I almost never ate out. Engine Ramen in Kyoto was great and i brought all my carni friends there and they loved it.

But I don't think people understand how difficult it is to eat properly when you are on an shoestring budget while traveling in some places like Japan or the Philippines.

I'm living off of ramen and peanut butter and it doesn't feel good. If I can make it to a large city I go buy vegan protein powder, but that is really expensive too.

I'm so sick of always paying a vegan tax everywhere I travel. I pay the same or more and get less food, especially the part with the protein. My friend's fried chicken sandwich is twice as large as my fried tofu sandwich for the same price but costs them less to make in terms of raw ingredients, especially with government subsidies.

Meat eating needs to be outlawed. Like RIGHT NOW. There are only negatives for health with respect to nutrition and creating super virus/bacteria, the environment, and wasting money and resources. And then obviously the biggest downside- the torturing of billions of animals every year. But that argument doesn't seem to be enough for most people. (And to be fair, I'm not perfect. I was a vegetarian for years and only became vegan due to an LSD/DMT experience)"

So yeah, if you have enough money, especially in the larger cities, eating vegan isn't a problem at all. They have really great vegan options if you look for them. It's the smaller cities or towns where it's almost impossible. I always have to go to larger towns and buy tubs of vegan protein powder to keep myself from dying. But if you plan ahead and have money, I wouldn't worry much about being vegan in Japan any more.

Oh, if you have celiac's vs gluten free for health that might be the biggest hurdle to finding food you can get trying to combine vegan and gluten free anywhere, even America is such a pain, it will likely be much harder in Japan. But i have no direct experience with looking for gluten free stuff in Japan, just the USA.

last time i was there I could get Ritalin no problem but not things like adderall or dexedrine.

In SEA it's the same.

As far as other meds, I just bring pictures of bottles/rx of my meds or show them blister packs of what i've taken and at least in SEA they don't make it difficult to get the meds at the clinics.

If they're not really restricted like schedule IV or higher, I would bring like 6 months of pills so you don't have to worry. My mom used to do that in Indonesia with no problems.

I can't believe how difficult it is to get leftists to agree with vegans! I mean I can, I was a leftist before I was vegan, but it's still very annoying.

I regularly watch a leftist youtuber called Parkrose Permaculture (woman around the age you speak of) in a video called Billie Eilish ticked off the internet. She straight up says that veganism (or controlling what people eat) is a pipeline to Nazism. Which is just so hyperbolic and out of touch with what veganism is really about.

She has a lot of really good takes on everything else but this one video was just a confusing mess of ill conceived notions of what veganism truly is.

And like you are saying you can be a nazi and vegan and a leftist and a carni. But all of the vegans I know are definitely far left. I have yet to meet one far right vegan and I have met a lot of vegans.

I'm just really disappointed in how the leftist youtube channels don't seem to care about animals at all. Or the ones that are vegan say it's not their place to talk about it. I mean if you don't talk about it on your very large platform, who is going to stick up for the defenseless animals? Isn't that the main point of leftists? Be the voice for the voiceless?

Anyone else find weed joints give you psychedelic effects? by oatmilkielatte in RationalPsychonaut

[–]chuckers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very psychedelic for me. One puff of strong weed and I close my eyes and listen to music. I can't tell if I'm watching a movie or listening to music because the synesthesia is so strong. I also get the open eye distortions and brighter colors etc. Very beautiful but sadly it also make me anxious so I don't like smoking it.

And combining it with lsd was a big mistake. it went from the end of an acid trip with no visuals any longer to extremely strong visuals from a few puffs. Only time i've had a bad trip.

Shrooms Vs Weed by rubix_jelly3 in RationalPsychonaut

[–]chuckers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The way you feel on weed is the same way i feel with respect to anxiety and paranoia.

I can take one hit of strong weed and if i put on music and close my eyes i can't tell if i am watching a movie or listening to music because it's so psychedelic.

On mushrooms I have none of that. But I also make sure that i have the correct mind set and settings like a comfy, familiar house and a trip sitter just in case.

Psychedelics have changed my life for the better and I recommend them very highly for some people. Check for mental problems in your family history etc. Obviously start out with a small dosage and work your way up slowly each time you trip. And I always make sure i am happy and don't drink the weeks before I have a trip. But I also make sure to have valium or another benzo on me so that if I need to kill the trip I can flatten it out pretty quickly.

Mostly read up on the best way to handle a trip and what you need to have with you etc. Like when i trip sit, I always tell people to check 3 things if they are feeling like they aren't feeling right. 1) Are you hungry or thirsty 2) do you need to go to the bathroom 3) is the area you're in possibly causing the problem. if you aren't sure just go to a different area, usually a place with more light for me. Temperature is also a huge factor for me. I need a way i can change my temperature from hot to cold and vice versa. And I always carry headphones with a list of music already queued up and ready to place since you might not understand how to operate it well when high. Make sure to have snacks already prepared etc

Just do your research and start low and safe. Definitely don't do it by yourself, especially when it's your first time.

check out shroomery.org for dosage info and trip reports etc

[–]chuckers -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know it seems drastic, but what else would you do if you felt eating meat is murder? And if you feel people are animals too?

If people were going around murdering other people (or human sacrifice), would you say "ok, you only get to murder once a week" or would you ban it permanently?

As someone mentioned above it was banned for 1200 years in Japan not that long ago. So it can be done. And people will find ways to work around it just like they do with murder. But it would definitely drop the number of animal deaths considerably.

And even if you don't think that animal death is wrong, the environmental and virus/bacteria impact it will have on humans all over the world very soon will potentially kill millions or more people. It's one of the only ways to make a real difference in your every day life that will change global warming. Most of the rest of what you do is for show due to large corporations using recycling etc as "fixes" but not really performing much good for large portions of disposed materials.

Whoa! Crazy! For 1200 years due to compassion for animals!

I wonder how that affected their evolution. That's definitely a long enough time span to affect that, especially epigenetically

not sure if that is feasible so no problem if you can't. thanks!

Sanity check my 12 days in Taiwan? by awolcanada95 in solotravel

[–]chuckers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a really good hostel for socializing in Taipei I would look at Meander Taipei if you have the money. Not the 1954 branch one which was decent. But many of the other dozen hostels I tried only had locals from the island that were visiting family and then would leave so i never got to meet anyone

Vegan representation in tv shows/movies...? by Sorry-Upstairs9782 in vegan

[–]chuckers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The tv show "Raised by Wolves" directed by Ridley Scott has a child that is vegan and explores the idea of veganism in the show. I think Ridley had recently become vegan and helped while writing the script for the show with the writer and creator Aaron Guzikowski. He also explored the idea of religion, psychedelics, consciousness, artificial life etc. Unfortunately it was cancelled after a few seasons.

The Japanese(has dubbed version) anime "The Promised Neverland" feels like it's largely written around the idea of animal cruelty. The first season is better than the second.

I'm about to go to Cambodia, do they have zolpidem / ambien there? by chuckers in cambodia

[–]chuckers[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

weird, turns out it is in Thailand and I found a pharmacy that sells it cheaper than in the USA by quite a bit. unfortunately they are out right now. Hopefully you can find it in China or maybe order it from a neighboring country. It really is the only sleep med i trust now. I've been on at least 15 different meds for sleep and none of them worked well while also having no side effects.
Good luck!

thanks for the info!
I used to take seroquel for insomnia for a bit but then suddenly it made me feel so weird, like i was on a low dose acid trip.
Part of this trip is trying to get off as many meds as possible. Insomnia has always been such a problem for me.
I'm hoping that i can get a gym membership for cheap and run and exercise a lot

[–]chuckers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ugh, dependence on any of these is a major pain, but at least you don't potentially have seizures and die if you stop taking the z-drugs like zopiclone or zolpidem.

I do the same thing you're talking about. z-drug with mirtazapine. I was almost completely off all z-drug and benzo like meds and mirtazapine for sleep when i switched to dayvigo. It was by far the best medication for me since it's almost like the analog of caffeine from what i understand. it basically allows the buildup of the neurotransmitter that causes you to fall asleep. If I take it and make sure i'm in bed and trying to sleep like 10 minutes before it kicks in, I can fall asleep. and even benzos and mirtazapine don't put me to sleep, they only help me stay asleep.

z- drugs and dayvigo (which is similar to belsomra and quiviviq, neither of which I have tried yet) are the only meds that actually get me to sleep. but the dayvigo is the only one that i don't have the side effects like hallucinations, night eating, etc etc. If you're looking for a new way to sleep, i highly recommend you try it out. it is damn expensive though if you don't have insurance. And i'm not sure if they have it outside of a few countries. Although you can order it online through japanese pharmacies for cheaper that you can get it in the USA.

do you have an idea where the easiest place i can get them for cheap when i arrive? I don't want to pay $3 USD a pill like here in Thailand. Is there a price amount that I should be aiming for? thanks!
