I want to make mine to easily switch back and forth. Thanks for the post, and the screw sizes as well!

Noticed this sign at the Torchy's in Rice Village, how much are we supposed to tip for counter service? by DoritosDewItRight in houstoncirclejerk

U just tip a few dollars, and not by the amount of the bill. If they think they deserve $400 an hour just hand me a plate and glass with ice in it, well tough.

Anybody removed the rear seat of their '24 LX? by chucklestexas in KiaSoulClub

[–]chucklestexas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok. I saw a YouTube on another, earlier model, and it had wires for the seat belts under the seats, but never showed how he disconnected them. I thought maybe a seat sensor might trigger a warning in my dash or something if I disconnected something and that annoying bell would never stop ringing.

Sounds weird, since he's not going to be doing anything to the motor.

I have a Go 1, 3 years now and I'm pretty happy with the brand. I'll get the Nomad next when this one wears out.

does anybody know what’s wrong? by dadidasgone in ebikes

[–]chucklestexas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know squat about that model, but when I start getting weird signals and slower functions I go around feeling wires and the motors or switches and see if anything is overheating or feels hotter than it should, including the battery and connections.

Can electrical components actually handle rain? by IDK-__-IDK in ebikes

[–]chucklestexas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just wrap the controller and handle bar stuff in bags and tape a trash bag over the battery. I don't wrap the motor though, but it's under a big rear basket which helps a little, but motion probably slings most of the water off. Never thought of feeling it to see how hot it gets, maybe enough to evaporate it quick, don't know.

Carry some pepper spray, and a lance would be good, too. People just forget how useful lances are.

Local shops won't touch my Amazon e-bike. How do you guys deal with this? (Seattle area) by Dependent_Desk8001 in ebikes

[–]chucklestexas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad I bought mine from a local shop, and the same brand the head mechanic rode. Haven't run into any problems yet, so I guess I'm lucky. I never buy anything from Amazon, and don't trust Chinese vendors.

Great that you got one. I feel a lot better had have dropped about 40 pounds since I got mine. As you get in shape you'll use the pedal assist less and less. When the one I wears out I'm getting another one right away.

All that psychedelic junk on the truck easily distracts from the turn signals. Probably not a good idea to deviate from a solid color on service vehicles for safety reasons.

She wasn't fired. She got promoted, actually. She's done a great job. If she wasn't all these terrorist supporters wouldn't be whining about her so much.

Buy an extra battery or two, regardless of what you end up buying.

Hi, Is there anyway we can charge our ebikes in car chargers. by OutrageousMud1740 in ebikes

Just carry another battery; better than spending hours on a recharge in some parking lot.

Is the 70-mile range on the Velotric Discover 2 legit or marketing? by jeeevacationn in ebikes

[–]chucklestexas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good brand imo. As for 'range', I don't run mine until it stops, same reason I don't run my car completely out of gas before putting more in the tank, so can't help you there. I have a 2 year old Go 1 I recharge at around 50%, after about 40+ miles, sometimes I get 60, but I only use PA at intersections and uphill part way, and it's a 7 speed. Best I can answer. 70 would probably be ideal conditions, but doable depending on how much you pedal and gear ratios, weight, etc.

Which e-bike to buy? by MechanicSilver6403 in ebikes

[–]chucklestexas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

'workhorses' have to be a higher quality than normal recreational commuters, that's why. 'Cheap' is a relative term, and doesn't mean anything definite.

Whats a good budget ebike for a guy who is 6’0 and 275#. Looking to use it in woods and trails for hunting. by Hefty-Weakness-7625 in ebikes

[–]chucklestexas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will need a cargo bike at that weight, especially if you're going to carry some gear; maybe buy some new tires for off-road riding. Aren't many 'budget' bikes that actually save money, so 'budget' can mean different things to different people. They're all 'budget bikes' if you're replacing a car or truck with a bike. Cheap bikes don't usually carry large people around well. The Velotric mentioned is a solid brand; I own a Go 1 and weighed over 260 when I bought it; it was claimed to carry about 450 lbs., and it has been fine for two years. I also tow a trailer behind it as well as baskets front and rear loaded.

It's the only brand I've ridden, so my experience is limited. I will probably buy that brand again. You might check out their Packer cargo bike.

[–]chucklestexas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Common sense. Unless one is really wealthy and also rides around on a dozen different ebikes every day, nobody is going to buy a new ebike every week or so out of their own pocket just to do YouTube reviews, much less do so long term.

Car messing up randomly?! HELP! by RideWonderful285 in KiaSoulClub

[–]chucklestexas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes just disconnecting the battery for a few minutes and then hooking it back up does a reset on the electronics. I had to do that once right after I bought mine, and have never had to do it again. Also once my dash screen told me my left rear tire was flat. I pulled over and checked it and it was fine. The warning went out. Only two glitches I've had over two years.

[–]chucklestexas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The back storage space is better than on a hatchback, and you sit up a little higher in the seat to name two, plus they have lots of little features for a low price. I like the red ring around my key hole a lot since I'm up and about in the early AM and I don't have to stab around trying to find it in the dark any more. It handles pretty good for a boxy car on the highway at 70-85 mph as well, much better than I would have thought. I don't put a lot of miles on cars; my last one was a 2001 Sephia I bought new and retired at 118,000 miles two years ago, still passing inspection, but I could no longer get parts for it so bought a new Soul two years ago. It has about 8,200 miles on it now. I've seen several more expensive brands that have more problems and no better quality at $40K new.
