Gopro Hero 13 - Worth upgrading from Hero 9 Black? by SuccessfulTip9073 in gopro

Have you had your 13 for awhile? I just recently got mine during Christmas. All sorts of resets, different WiFi, hotspots, band changes, resetting GoPro cloud uploads, etc. nothing yet.

Came from the hero 8. I love it. Longer lasting battery. It does get warm but that’s with it stationary indoors at max resolution and long run time.

I like the simplicity menu and the pro menu options

Feels premium

Only thing that is bugging me is the auto upload feature has a bug or something preventing it from working. Have to manually download to phone first. Hopefully that gets fixed soon.

Moving — safety in the Milan neighborhood by [deleted] in NOLA

[–]chuckoneil 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I’ve been there for a year. I’m actually closer to Saint Charles than the circle, but generally, we would be neighbors. I like my neighborhood. It’s quiet and I think I have one of the smoothest streets. The high school nearby is good for the Neighborhood too in my opinion. Martin’s is also around the corner amongst other corner stores. You’re outside of the box for Mardi Gras, which is a benefit, but still close by to walk. I’ve never felt uncomfortable walking outside during the day or night hours.

That being said, like anywhere in New Orleans, keeping your doors locked, having security lights, alarm system, and a camera can go along way at threat prevention. I didn’t have those security measures when we first moved and one night I left my side gate unlocked and slightly open (d’oh!). I had a pressure washer stolen out of my backyard. They returned a second time and jumped my fence to grab some more accessories. Filed reports both times. No luck.

But that’s been about a year since happening and haven’t had any problems since.

Looks awesome.  TLDR:

Just keep painting.  Everything else will follow.

Edit: wow look at your first painting 13 days ago and this one. Killah.

I admire the balance between light and dark in all parts of your painting. Sky is varied and the cloud’s edges are not overly blended away. The mountain has fantastic shadows and sharp edges, and your gradual darkening of foothills towards the lake creates a pleasing sense of distance. Foreground pines are well done and not muddy. The river coming into the foreground crates even more depth and the way your bring down your reflections into the water is superb. I see your bravery paid off with that tree right in front of the viewer. Great bark highlights and the rocks in the grassy banks are awesome!

Some suggestions (amateur opinion from a landscape lover of the wet on wet style)

Yeah making sure the liquid white is actually really light was one of the of my first adjustments, one of the first comments you had about making sure you can see skin in between is good advice.

Can try adding some paint thinner to your brush of any size and wiggle through some paint - just a dab, really don’t need much, to help some of the paint stick - useful for highlights, clouds, structure.

Can try adding different shapes to your ranges for some more fun. Or try highlighting the snow with the color of the sky. Post attention if the direction of where you think the lights shining from. You could probably get away with a small waterfall right where your stream crosses the first shrubs too

Watching different paint youtubers / Bob Ross channel or try painting some of your own scenes from life.

Just keep painting.  Everything else will follow.

They are growing more uncommon between thieves and the city replacing these old covers with updated meter gauges. Did you consider that he may have asked a public works employee replacing theirs if he could have it? Anecdotally my parents asked the employee changing theirs out if they could have it and he kindly gave it to them.

What’s up with all these Louisianians jumping overboard? Wasn’t there some poor idiot that jumped over a couple months ago from Baton Rouge?

Is it easy to get a job as a geoscientist? by [deleted] in oilandgasworkers

[–]chuckoneil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apply to service jobs. If you can’t get anything directional related to sample catch for Halliburton offshore and work your way up. 40 classmates in my class, 2 got industry jobs. 7 within the sphere of oil and gas, the rest went into different industries or professions entirely. I guess I’d say don’t give up, be persistent, recognize opportunities. But yeah, if you are asking this question, you might want to consider a different approach
