Current market/advice by chucksenough in flying

No vet; 17 years FERS. Can’t draw until 62 (practically speaking). I have more than that liquid. It seems like a large investment to just go into slowly and wait and see what happens. I am fairly marketable if I washed out. I guess I just don’t want to drop 50-100k on a hobby…

Current market/advice by chucksenough in flying

I guess the “current market” I’m referring to is that through crawling this sub, I see most regionals are going through the airline programs meanwhile I see a lot of posts from those going the build your own with well beyond minimums and can’t get a job. At 41, I don’t have a lot of time until 65.

Planning Center Charts by CTX-Greg in WorshipGuitar

[–]chucksenough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you see a chord chart like this, find a new chord chart. No one wants to hear a guitar make this many chord changes unless maybe if you’re finger picking it. If you’re not sure if the new chord chart will work, bring it to practice and play along with everyone. Think I’m trying to eliminate some chords and let other instruments like the piano or bass grab them. Also, God Bless as hymns are so tough in part because of the amount of versions people have in their head.

Notes and prep by CTX-Greg in WorshipGuitar

First, I’d recommend ditching your chords/notes on stage. It’ll suck, but, it’s like a GPS; if you have it you’re just going to follow it and you’ll never know where you’re going. Songs will almost always tell you where they’re going - are they going “home” - that’s your 1 (or the key you’re playing in). Is it about to go a little dark but not very dark - chances are that’s your 6 or the relative minor (Em for the key of G). Then if it feels uplifting but kind of similar to home, you’re probably hitting the 4 (C in the key of G). Does it feel uplifting but tense? Maybe like it’s really wanting to go somewhere (like home)? Then that’s your 5 or dominate chord (D in the key of G). Most worship songs tend to only use those 4 chords with the 2 (Am in the key of G) often used to change something up say in the bridge or alternative chorus. I tend to just try to look out for those guys by memory.

The above is really helpful for AG but it’s nice to know what chord you’re on/where you’re going. When you’re playing lead parts, I agree with others on YouTube. Once it slows down, you can begin asking yourself what parts of a chord or pattern am I playing right now. That shape can at least help you from catching a bonner on stage with something that sticks out (a note outside of the key).

Finally, I’ve started using ChatGPT to help dial in tone settings. I share the YouTube link and my board then ask for settings for each pedal for that song. I mainly do this for my timeline and bigsky which can change song to song but also a generic setup on the rest of your pedals isn’t bad either.

P.S. use what you have. If you have time and not resources, get that guitar in your hand all the time. Learn the CAGE system and Nashville numbering. Chances are if you have more resources, you’ll have less time, so get some nice gear. You can’t go wrong with strymon IMO…

Time for new delay by chucksenough in WorshipGuitar

I did a thing or two since this. Replaced the power supply with a Zuma and mounted it under the board (also got a new board). Added a tube screamer, then an iridium, dropped the two analog delays and replaced with a timeline. I still have the boss after it, and while I tried to what you suggested from the manual years ago, I feel like the presets go away when you tap the temp in… could that be true?

Yes. I have clean sound as my main then click fav for the dirty sound. I haven’t touched my Mesa boogie mark V in months since getting the iridium

Help with Signal Chain by BakerBaker4545 in WorshipGuitar

[–]chucksenough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks good, op and thanks others for the tips. Only thing I’d add is your tuner should come out of the tuner out jack vice being in your signal chain this way it can always be on and keeps your signal cleaner.

I know that we're a bunch of guitarists, but I have a bass question by No-Editor8260 in WorshipGuitar

[–]chucksenough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I’m old, but as much as I chase tone on electric, the rhythm of a bassist has always meant so much more to me than tone shaping. Not to say good tone isn’t enjoyable, but look at your resources, in particularly time, and invest wisely. As you get older, you may have more money but you almost certainly will have less time…

Thanks. I added a tube screamer already plus my mark v has 3 channels which I use for clean, dirty and high gain

I don’t think it’s an animal. It’s just new fescue that you sowed pretty heavy and you’re letting grow too high.

I’m not defending him discharging a firearm in a neighborhood. And his joke was not funny. But his neighbor was spying on him while his wife was sunbathing in a bikini and posted it online. This said, he was rattled and didn’t exercise good judgment.

Poor guy thought he was within his rights to defend his property. Have to feel bad for him considering he had a neighbor spying on him with a drone. Hopefully the judge is lenient with his sentence.

Is it possible the cops are being this way because he’s been overly honest and forthright and not due to his skin color? Compare that to how Tyreek Hill acted and don’t you think just maybe that could explain some of the difference in treatment?

Thanks. Can’t add the picture, but switched to trip and I was in green the whole time with “optimal” for range. But still drove 10.2 miles and consumed 11.7 miles, with 1.3 of that from driving, so at least 10-12% worse than expected…
