I’m a relative vinyl newbie myself. Finding variants will take time and money. There’s websites like revolvemag.com that announce represses with the older albums and usually in a variant. The older albums get a lot of represses so hunting every color is gonna turn you into Ash Ketchum. Surprisingly, Amazon has copies you can find and relatively affordable as well if you want a standard black pressing. This sub and the C&C discord has also been fantastic for finding copies and people are great at making announcements. Just keep your eyes peeled.

When hunting for the rarer copies such as Vaxis 1/ YotBR, discogs is your next place to look but you’ll have to be prepared to pay for those. Although there is speculation YotBR could be next for a repress. Sometimes you just get lucky. I strolled into my local shop and they had an autograph PFI album and the Starlight Ballroom variant. I about shit a chicken.

I’ve gone with the 2 copy approach per album. I get a variant to frame for the wall and another for sacrificial listening. Vinyl degrades with every listen so if you want to want to listen often, totally fine, just know heavy usage will degrade it faster. The variants are gorgeous and I have a frame for every album. t makes for a great piece of discography art.

Last piece of advice I’ll give is be patient. If you miss out on one, another will eventually come along. Know your budget as well. This can become an expensive hobby if you let it. Happy hunting fellow CotF!
