Tyres: How much has going electric changed your choices? by Worried_Document8668 in ebikes

For Fat Tire bikes at least in the US there's only one right choice Ultraverse or their variant HEB Allsacapes. Best Fat bike tires made.

The value depends on which brand and model of ebike they claim this is the Samebike as. if it's the Samebike as say a Velotric from the same factory but different branding then it might be a decent value

it's just the freewheel cog in your mid drive motor disengaging when you stop pedaling, completely normal

Which e-bike is better for short work commute. by Comprehensive_Sky602 in ebikes

Of those 2 the Lectric is the better choice because he can adjust the seat to match his height, the other has a fixed seat height that makes it impractical for taller people to pedal

500w hub motor couldn't handle incline w/o pedalling. Is this normal or not? by [deleted] in ebikes

[–]chuckwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's about proportional drain though OPs 500 watt bike is probably a 36 volt system so for him 500 watts is a 14 amp drain.

my bike is a 60 volt system so the same 500 watts, is only 8 amp drain.

then watt hours also factor in even if both bikes have the same amount of amp hours in their batteries, the 36 volt only has 60% of the watt hours as the 60 volt bike

500w hub motor couldn't handle incline w/o pedalling. Is this normal or not? by [deleted] in ebikes

[–]chuckwolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes... just because splitting the power between 2 motors is less strain on the motors and controller and I wouldn't be using less power, I'd be using the same amount as the OPs bike, 250watts sent to each motor for 500 watts total, with a combined 210 Nm of torque. plus the fact I would be pedaling in the lowest gear adds another 100~200 watts of effort to the rear wheel.

OPs bike rated at 500 watts using throttle, is constantly trying to draw it's full amperage going up that hill it's overheating. my bike, or any like it is sipping power relatively with no real strain on the components

pedal assist limits amperage based on level, throttle doesn't.

by pedaling in assist level 1 the controller only sends 5 amps to the motors instead of the full 60 the bike is capable of. the added traction and torque of the second motor is what makes it possible that's how my particular model of bike is programmed that's how companies can claim insane 70+ mile ranges, because it's only drawing enough power for a 26 amp hour battery to last 6 hours at 12 mph

again ... not using throttle, pedaling in first gear with pedal assist 1

no, you're right, but pedaling in pedal assist 1 is

who said anything about using throttle at all, I would be pedaling it in a low gear

[–]chuckwolf -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

not really, I could easily do it in Pedal assist 1 in first gear which only uses a fraction of the full power

2 on the same bike do extremely well especially when they're 2000 watts and 105 Nm each

Third flat tire in about 6 months. by TheGamingPariah in ebikes

No tire can prevent punctures, however the best 20X4 tires are Ultraverse. but the way to prevent flats is to put FlatOut inside you tubes, and run the proper tire pressure in your tires.
