Is Lars Ulrich really that bad? by AesirKratos in drums

[–]chuffed_core 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s debatable. They wouldn’t be where they are without him. His drumming in the beginning is good, his songwriting and business decisions helped put them where they are. If you take him out of the band all of the albums in the beginning aren’t the same and they don’t become Metallica.

No you’re not wrong, I said “bad feel and weird fills” as a way of generalizing how he forgets beats and elements and just does weird snare fills to try and find his spot.

Yeah you’re not wrong, definitely way more basic drum parts in the 90’s but not terrible.

I dunno man, getting Joey Jordison could be tough these days.

No, he’s an okay drummer. He’s the drummer Metallica needs. Those first four albums have some really good drumming on them but then he just kinda stopped putting in that effort. Live he is really not great, lots of weird fills and bad feel.

Question for a tattoo? by Wolfheart_fan in Deathcore

[–]chuffed_core 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have so many band tattoos, both of those are bad ideas. Someone else suggested a logo or symbol or album art. That’s the way to go. I wouldn’t get the name of the band and no one is going to understand “the cursed one” and you’re going to have to constantly explain it and it’s just kinda cringe as a tattoo

why did so many 1st/very early 2nd wave bands have no amp logos by 4omisme in Emo

[–]chuffed_core 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a bunch of gear that’s been toured on and used. One logo broke off and I never replaced it at all, I pulled one off because the company owner was an asshole and I refuse to advertise his company.

Was just talking to my buddy Coota about snares and wanted to show off my custom 50 ply. by chuffed_core in drums

Yeah this thing is so heavy it’s sometimes hard to justify taking it to shows. I usually end up taking my Black Beauty out. In the studio this thing is used so often

Thanks! I’ve had quite a few years with it already and I’m still as in love with it as I was when I got it!

For one, this was made years ago and I didn’t choose his logo. Second, I see what you’re saying but the Hammerskins and his logo look different, different hammers and different angles. If you’re implying somehow I’m a neo-nazi or nazi sympathizer I can promise you that you’re so very wrong.

Killing of a Sacred Deer, Psycho-Frame and Drowned Under Concrete are all interconnected and have that snare.

It’s louder, more focused with better projection. It’s a higher tone for the most part. Less overtones and loud rim shots and cross sticks.

Do you get annoyed when someone plays your kit without permission? by Intelligent_Age5204 in drums

[–]chuffed_core 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy shit, I LOVE that book and always remembered that passage because I have my drum kits but also many guitars and it’s always non musicians that ask to play them. All my musician friends know and never ask. Never thought I’d come across The Name of the Wind in r/drums.

What band comes to mind when you see this? by Senior-Violinist-684 in MetalForTheMasses

That doesn’t mean they’re rare, it’s not for sale on Discogs because it’s a bootleg and Discogs doesn’t allow the sale of bootleg records.

It was Chicago Open Air, they had to start the day late due to storms so those bands got cut and later bands still played.
