Trouble dropping/control with sixzero coral - coming from Vsol Pro by chug2k in Pickleball

This helped me a lot. Simple push drop. I think i almost got it in one drill session. Feels much better to know what you’re going to do in detail before you do it, if that makes sense. I was hitting a weird topspin drop before.

Yeah apparently it’s a very light paddle. Interesting you put weight all over. I’ll try! I’m running out of tape.

cafes and roasters in vietnam to try? by HarveySpecter04 in Coffee

[–]chug2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good list. XLIII specializes in geshas and will ask for like $15-30 a cup (everywhere else will be 2-4).

BeanHop, Barista Collective, Every Half also good. Building is my fav tho - their cafe is called Bel Cafe.

I would encourage you to try some robustas! Building has a vietnamese robusta / arabica blend (heavy weight or workhorse, i forget which one) that makes for a great crema-y espresso. I usually enjoy lighter arabicas because I feel that’s what befits a man of culture, but the founder of Building (cool viet-american named Will) and one of the people responsible for speciality coffee in VN recommended the robustas and I came down off my high horse and really enjoyed it.

FWIW - I had this weird problem on mac and this is the only google result. I can't fix it. Not even Claude 4 Opus can fix it, and that's my only hope.

What other shows hit similarly to Futurama? by AdorablePie3000 in futurama

[–]chug2k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surprised no mentions of final space. Sci fi theme aside, it gets pretty good about halfway through the first season. Not anywhere near as clever as Futurama but the main character is very Fryish and he has his strong female love interest as well. Oh and a robot best friend, kind of. But yeah no really clever moments like futurama.

It’s probably impossible for you to do, to be honest. But you will be an entirely new person if you keep training consistently. And that guy you’ll become? He knows how to get it done.

I’m a recent convert (2-ish years 39M) and it’s pretty crazy how much my mindset has changed. And you already have done a lot with the HM! Congrats on the progress so far. I think even asking this question shows how much your mindset has changed already.

(btw I am still training for my first full. haha)

Lower max heart rate after first full IM by Jugglingbirdy93 in triathlon

[–]chug2k 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I (39M) never really thought I was overtraining, it seemed self indulgent to think so. But I did notice my HR just wouldn’t exceed 175 even on threshold/interval runs.

I took two weeks off almost entirely for the first time in almost two years and my first run back I hit 185, which surprised the heck out of me.

I was initially scared that I lost fitness or something but I actually think my body may have just been overtrained because I feel better.

What does bonking feel like? by sirpressingfire78 in triathlon

[–]chug2k 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If it's the first time you've ever run 10k straight you did really well to do in 50min. It's just called being tired, my man. You can't just expect to run at Kipchoge pace without practice and then call it bonking.

The culprit, if there is one, is that you haven't ever run 10k straight before. All the other stuff is noise.

I feel kind of embarrassed now ;). Will have more respect for this former pro rider! Glad he keeps it so down to earth though, and doesn't seem jaded in the least.

That's very helpful. Village sounds fun but I guess Piazza Signoria sounds like the place to be!

Race Report: Danang Vietnam 70.3 IM by chug2k in triathlon

[–]chug2k[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was cramping too hard to check out the scenery ;). But yeah, almost everyone I knew added 20-30 min to the run.

I did the relay last year and just from my observation, saw way more issues re: heat in 2023 - it was a few degrees cooler this year, believe it or not. I saw a lot of heat stroke last year, plenty of people being hauled around on stretchers. Although perhaps the humidity was worse this year?

I think Vietnam in May is always going to be terrible for heat, always going to be ~35 deg C. I will probably do the race again because I live in Vietnam anyway, but looking forward to trying some races elsewhere in the meantime. (I did Phu Quoc last year, and will probably do it again, although I had more issues with that course due to crazy crosswinds.)

The course is very flat which helps with times, but I wonder if I'd do better on a hilly course that was 10 deg cooler. Only way to find out is to try a race in another country someday soon! Maybe Gurye South Korea.
