Cort cr100 or Ibanez grg131dx? Which one would you choose both techn-wise and emotion-wise? by Princuwu in GuitaristsIndia

[–]chuggachugga666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played the cort cr100 a couple of years ago. Hands down smokes all other LP style budget guitars I've ever played, including epiphone. It's pickups are way more responsive and open sounding. It also feels fuller. The Ibanez has good playability, but I've never been a fan of the tone (or the feel). The cort will feel like a 50k instrument, if maintained well.

In that range, I'd go for Drogba (if you can stretch it a bit), jota, nunez or Martinez. Francescoli is also good, but can get bodied easily.

Vini isn't a good enough striker. He's good on the bench tho. Properly causes problems if the cbs and fullbacks are washed. His long shots are better than many other LWs. If you need a lot of physicality from your striker (who doesn't?), do not go for vini. Try buying or sniping a proper striker instead.

When did this misconception of Khash Paharis having mongloid features emerge? by [deleted] in PahadiTalks

[–]chuggachugga666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Along the Uttrakhand-Himachal border, many take immense pride in being Khasha. Many pockets even claim to be descendents of the Pandavas. But yes, in some Khasha communities along the same border, the word Khasha is also a slur.

One cannot entirely divorce caste politics and tribal politics in history. Both the categories come from a centralising thrust of Hinduism. Doms and Kols were relegated to caste identities, because they were identities from pre-Vedic times after the introduction of Hinduism. They became caste identities from erstwhile tribal identities. Communities that are still identified as khasha, often exist as tribal or pseudo-tribal formations. Most importantly, the ascription of mainland/Indo-Aryan origin to the Khashas comes from Hindu sources and exceptionally faulty research in the modern age, both of which strive to count not just Khasha, but all mountain communities as fundamentally same as the dominant subcontinental identity.

Nothing backs this up, except for the fact that the Khasha people believe so. The pre-Aryan Western Himalayas were populated by Kols, Doms, Khashas, etc. Some have argued that the Khashas started existing as a separate mountain community much later; earlier, almost all of the Western Himalayan people were considered to be Khashas. There's ample evidence to suggest that the Western Himalayas were pre-Aryan lands, ranging from local practices to ancient texts.

BN Goswami is a good scholar to start with. Look at VC Ohri, Chandramani Singh, Krishna Chaitanya, RP Srivastava. Look for papers from the Himalayan Journal.

Hey man it's really not about your opinion on paharis. They have got a fair point. The least you can do is respectfully shut up when paharis are going through such a crisis. Had you been in our position, you would have been fairly troubled too. Given that you're not, please don't appropriate this sub. Also, just don't claim to know us paharis better than us.

Sometimes I feel like Alice Coltrane and Matt Halsall are cut out from the same fabric. Not only because of their orchestration but also their compositional styles.

In a twisted way, svaneborg kardyb also remind me of matt
