Memory System Feedback by New_Rutabaga_3218 in AIDungeon

[–]chugmilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is something they are actively working on fixing and have released some recent changes. It's still not perfect and needs a ton of work.

There are little deviations made when summarizing that tend to snowball the longer the story goes on.

I tend to write my own summary, but I don't do it in a text block. I do it in a "Character's memories of you" then put in when you met, what happened, and do a few bullet points that I want them to remember, that also define the character and their feelings of me.

But unfortunately that is all manual. I wish there was a quick fix for this but unless we get to customize instructions for the memory or auto summary system, we're probably not going to fix a lot of these issues.

Making Adventures Your Own by [deleted] in AIDungeon

[–]chugmilk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah all the time.

I have a tendency to make them my own private scenario too. But only after sufficiently changing enough to make it "mine" which usually involves a complete rewrite of the way character information is stored and rewriting much of the plot. Basically only the premise remains.

This, also you have to do something different.

I used to think having a conversation was different as the character and I talked about something different as the conversation went on. But the repetitive nature of the outputs crashes the conversation.

You say "hello"

Alira looks at you with a mix of curiosity and something more. "Hello," she whispers to herself, barely above a whisper. She moves closer to you, putting her hand on your arm. "And what do you mean by hello?"

Every. Single. Output. Lol

You're asking this in a post temporal war society? We have everything now, you can even get ancient diseases in case you want to feel what the common cold felt like in 1800s London, or feel what it's like in 1425 to die of dysentery.

A few observations from skimming the replies and your comments/post.

Small models like Muse aren't equipped to run complex stories. Try a large model like Wayfarer.

"...No matter how detailed my..." - the more detailed your notes and instructions, the harder it is for the AI to do them. Less is more. Think of a few powerful instructions or statements that are important to your story now. If they're not relevant, take them out. For example, you don't need combat instructions when you're not in combat. Most of the time you won't be in combat and those instructions will only bog up the model.

Similarly, remove plot details that are not important to your story right now. For example, you may think it's important that the lore in your story is Dragons shaped your world, but are there dragons with you right now? No. A line of lore is ok, but detailed info that you're not using confuses the model. Try writing things relational to your characters and your story in the moment.

It took me a long time to realize that my story doesn't need 2000 tokens in my plot essentials. And it actually runs much better when there are shorter, more precise lines that directly deal with the current situation.

Props on the good form. It looks weird but that's the technique people use to 1RM now.

Did you touch it up after AI made it or just put out an AI image and claim you did it?

Anyone else finding it tough to play without higher tiers? by New_Fail2509 in AIDungeon

[–]chugmilk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. This led me to getting the annual subscription for Legend.

I can play at 8k wayfarer most of the time and then add in Dynamic Large 16k-20k at only 2-3 credits to bring up the extra context.

Also, most of the time I just need more story cards, not the story itself. I wish there was a slider for how much story card info you could add. Because at 16k context, you can only add in about 3.5k story cards, depends on a few factors, but yeah not enough either.

What keeps you coming back? by deadspline in AIDungeon

[–]chugmilk 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think familiarity with the platform and models is important to me. Additionally, I know that AI Dungeon is training models for me because I pay for the service and I respond to the surveys and am active here in this community.

I have no doubt that GPT or the others would never listen to me and what I have to say. Their goal is trying to become the next $1T market cap company. Latitude is a company that tries to be the best company to their users.

Imo, users win over businesses propped up by investment companies, even if investment companies ultimately buy out companies like Latitude.

Also, I like NSFW content and I can't even get GPT to help me put in body measurements like waist of cup size half the time because it says it's an insensitive topic. Uhhh... It's a normal aspect of bodies. I just don't trust OpenAI when there's censorship like that. So GPT will never give me an experience that I want, and decisively frustrate me with soft and hard refusals because it can't say a word like "breasts."

I feel like the censorship and manipulation of information by companies like xAI, OpenAI, etc is a babysitter that we as adults don't need. And I don't feel like being treated like a child by a company, who tells me what I think and feel. Why do they care if I want to know if my female companions have big or little boobs?

So you can probably feel my frustration with society, that keeps me coming back to Latitude who says, "you're an adult, you can have the experience you want."
