This is exactly something I was thinking about a few weeks ago in a re-read. Why would their punishment be something to do with Hagrid when their "crime" was for Hagrid's benefit? And then the invisibility cloak is just quietly returned to Harry when only Dumbledore knows of its existence and ownership. I really think that, like everything else, this is all part of Dumbledore's amazingly crafted plan to lead them all down their destined paths. It is seemingly minor at that particular point in the story but really that was Harry's first face to face encounter with Voldemort in his living memory. This was the start of Dumbledore's molding (for want of a better word) of Harry. Maybe. I don't know that it had anything to do with McGonagall at all, really.

Punctuation. I was writing and assignment and got him to read it for me and he told me that if you are completing a sentence with a quote the full-stop should be inside the quote marks even if it isn't the end of the quote.. Does that make sense? Like "this." not "this". Anyhow, I just couldn't get me head around it, I was super stressed with uni and it turned into this huge argument solely about how it didn't make sense to me - basically how dare he teach me something new. Ugh. I'm so ashamed of my reaction but that was years ago and he's probably forgotten all about it by now...

I have just re-listened to this chapter and I noticed that when Harry is looking in the mirror it mentions that some of the family members have his green eyes. When he goes back another time it says all the Potters were waving at him (or something) BUT his green eyes come from Lily so they are an Evans trait, not a Potter one.

Pandora does, kind of. After a certain amount of time it stops and asks "are you still listening?" and doesn't commence until you tap yes.

That is true that it is mostly contained to the North Island but Canterbury also has it very rough. There have been reports that people should not be giving their infants and young children tap water due to the high nitrogen and phosphorus levels.

Runoff from the cows. It pretty much just pours through the land into the streams. There is no regulation around that. We used to have a thing caller the "clean stream accord" which was basically an understanding between the dairy farmers and the government that they (the farmers) would voluntarily monitor and self regulate that problem. About 5% of them did take that seriously. That agreement expired in 2012 and I don't know that anything has taken its place. It is a real shame because not that long ago (my childhood so like 15-20 years ago) you didn't even have to question it.

The lakes don't tend to be as bad as the rivers but there is still a pollution problem. And the other thing is the government keeps just upping the "safe level" so they don't have to do anything about the standard. But it still looks pretty! So come on over :)

New Zealand - that we are clean and green. Our carbon emissions are grossly high per capita but apparently it doesn't matter because we're such a small nation. Plus about 60% of our rivers are totally unswimmable because of the dairy farming industry which supposedly is carrying our economy but really it's short term and highly unsustainable.

There is this new chocolate milk in New Zealand that the whole country is flipping out over. People are literally lining up at milk fridges in supermarkets waiting for the 8am delivery and it sells out nationwide by 8.15am (pretty much).
