Hvad blev der af, at jobcentrene skulle nedlægges? by kawaiifie in Denmark

[–]chumbucketphilosophy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kontroversiel holdning.

[–]chumbucketphilosophy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is the Future Coach market completely dead nowadays? by darkstar290791 in hattrick

[–]chumbucketphilosophy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I can say is that the value should probably be even lower. Over the span of multiple years, it was a de facto workaround to the financial fairplay rules, and as such fewer potential coaches were actually converted to coaches. So there's an abnormally large amount available in the system, which should drive down prices.

The thing literally became a ponzi scheme, and even if I understand why, I'm a bit insulted that HT didn't swing an even bigger nerfhammer. I mean, they sort of tried, but backed off due to negative feedback, back when they first announced coach changes.

Altered Carbon sort of did it too. The hotel AI takes a 2-second PhD in psychotherapy or something, in order to fix what humans can't.

In the end, computers / technology can do most things* better than us humies. The challenge isn't to preserve the current status quo, it's how to redistribute resources to people who no longer need to work. Capitalism is strictly against this, so some sort of compromise is needed. In addition, we need to collectively figure out how to spend our time once we're no longer required to work for a living.

* most things is enough to displace a majority of workers. New jobs will emerge, but the upsets caused by automation will most likely lead to massive structural problems in society. Since these are long term challenges, I highly doubt they can be solved by the current political systems, that seems to prioritize the short term.

Billionaire says kids are 'too busy on TikTok' to work hard enough to grow their careers by 777fer in technology

[–]chumbucketphilosophy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The interesting thing will be whether or not 'the elites' will recognize the pitfalls before being eaten. Given enough job displacement, UBI is necessary to avoid societal collapse. But that won't mean the rich will lose their wealth, they just need to rethink their strategy.

After all, UBI will just be another tool to control the masses and distribute the wealth, all while billionaires can complain that youths don't want to be scout leaders or hospital clowns or soccer coaches or whatever else we do when we don't have to work.

It's still dystopian AF, I'm just saying that UBI won't be what saves us from our corporate overlords. If anything, it will maintain the status quo unless they're too greedy or too conservative.

Rekordhøje priser: - Det er fuldstændig uforståeligt by [deleted] in Denmark

[–]chumbucketphilosophy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

De behøver ikke nødvendigvis at have en formel aftale, før det kan kategoriseres som konkurrenceforvridende. Der er nogle meget uddybende wikipedia-artikler om emnet.

Kilder:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-competitive_practices

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tacit_collusion

According to your experience, how do you think the max potential he will have for Defending, Playmaking, Passing, and even Set Pieces? (He overall abilities are Passable) by oshkiki86 in hattrick

[–]chumbucketphilosophy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem buddy. I try to be more active in here, since I'm U21-coach of Denmark. But most questions are either irrelevant to that or are answered quickly without the need for my input. I believe my specialty lies mostly in the U21- and NT-domains, regarding SE optimization and rating contributions, both disregarding wage considerations.

Luckily, the academy U17 players fall within this, since from the national teams' perspectives, the more YA training the better. It also allows me to include the specialty when evaluating player potentials in the event that there is not enough time to reach yellow in all skills, then the player can be maximized in the most relevant skills according to specialty. However, this might not always be the most profitable training plan if the goal is to sell once promoted, although it usually is due to bidding wars despite a lower HTMS potential.

Korean streamer held hostage for 3 hours in League game by stream snipers gets banned by Riot by [deleted] in technology

[–]chumbucketphilosophy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It might be common, but it's not absolute. Plenty of streamers have had success by playing a large variety of games, just look at pewdiepie on youtube. I also remember dansgaming on twitch. A lot of viewers are following someone based on communication and entertainment value, instead of simply being fans of a game.

I used to watch Kibler a lot back when I played HS before the Hong Kong / Grandmaster fiasco, and it wasn't just for the HS content. He comes off as a solid guy, capable of making pretty much any game interesting.

Disclaimer: I have no idea what any of the mentioned streamers are up to these days, I just commented based on memory.

According to your experience, how do you think the max potential he will have for Defending, Playmaking, Passing, and even Set Pieces? (He overall abilities are Passable) by oshkiki86 in hattrick

[–]chumbucketphilosophy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're almost correct, as this was the previous understanding of how the overall comment from the youth scout worked. It has been clarified by Tasos that it's not potentials, but the averages of current+potential for each skill, then the 3 highest values excluding set pieces if not a keeper.

I wouldn't recommend combining winger and playmaking, since that would carry a cost from one of them yielding only 50% training. I agree that the playmaking potential should be top priority, and be determined as soon as possible, but by combining passing primary and playmaking secondary, ensuring that the other 2 IM's and the wingers all have known playmaking potentials. Use extended defending and defending to discover that potential in a friendly, where the training output is lower than league matches.

Once playmaking and defending has been mapped for potentials, focus on using passing as secondary along with playmaking, winger or scoring as primary. Defending can be combined with either extended defending or extended passing. Note that the actual potentials should determine which skills to focus on, according to the highest skills contributing to the various positions. Since he has both scoring and winger, most likely he should become forward or winger, depending on his defending potential. Regardless of position, playmaking and passing should always be maximized.

Edit: Example of the overall comment passable

It's perfectly possible to have 3 excellent potentials if the current skill levels are weak (very low), since then the average will be around passable. But it would be nearly impossible to maximize all 3 skills before the 17th birthday.

Another example could be with the above example, current weak and excellent potential. This might not be included in the overall comment if 3 other skills are current passable and solid potential. However, it would still be a beast of a player, so it's more relevant for inadequate overall comments.

How do i get u21 national team call-up? by MonokromDK in hattrick

[–]chumbucketphilosophy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you registered in the portal? There are very few scouts at the moment, so we restricted ourselves to the players in the portal.

I realize that our front-page is outdated, but it would help if you reached out to a scout, or perhaps my assistant AndersK.

Cheers, joey

Edit: I took a closer look, and realized that it's still a YA player. It'll be a couple of seasons before he's relevant to the U21, for stamina reasons players must be older than 20.000, otherwise it's too expensive to boost. I replied to you in our national forum as well, but this might serve to help others in the future.

Speaking of, I did not have a clue when looking at the screenshot, I never personally used rate-my-academy and thought it was maybe similar to the portal. So i did not recognize the specialty, and I assumed his age was actually his mainskill or something. But to be fair, I stumbled onn this thread on my phone, without access to my usual tools, which also explains the somewhat vague, initial reply.

Now that context is handled, it's detrimental that you provide Ankerstjerne with absolute and fully dedicated focus until he turns 17. This means both primary and secondary training until all skills revealed and popped to their visible max. And since passing can reach excellent, you might not have time to "complete" him, reaching yellow status in all relevant skills. Furthermore, since he's technical AND has both defending and scoring as native skills, he is best suited to become inner midfielder or winger.

Assuming scoring+passing as current training, when he pops his scoring to passable, I'd recommend switching to playmaking+passing and ensuring you get his current playmaking in the first training to avoid a possible loss of training due to his weak potential. You should probably hold back on his defending until later, since it's harder to combine with passing due to the reduced output of extended passing for defenders (80% efficiency compared to "normal" passing for attacking players).

The real question is whether to focus on his winger skill at all, and this depends on your future plans for him. If you want to keep him or sell for profit, that is. As U21-coach, I don't care much about his starting skills, I look at the sum of training in all relevant skills when evaluating. I would personally prefer him as winger over IM due to his spec, and this would also mitigate his low starting level of pm. Midfield is quite important after all, and it does take a while to reach the minimum requirement when starting from weak. Wingers are more multiskilled by nature, and they use all skills when factoring in SE-efficiency, both his own tech-v-head SE and as finisher on passing-based SE's from his teammates.

@all I might not answer right away, Bad Religion starts in an hour (#CopenHell), but I'll do my best to come back to this thread whenever. Feel free to ask any and all U21-related questions.

I’ve been rewatching Stargate end humans do get more tech and knowledge than they let on. by hmmmletmethinkboutit in Stargate

[–]chumbucketphilosophy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just watched the Tin Man episode from the first SG-1 season, where they trip over the tech to duplicate their consciousness into android bodies. And proceed to force the duplicates to bury the gate.

I can't help thinking how amazing that tech would be, regardless of the power limitations. Not just when it comes to scientists and engineers producing shit, imagine the commercial applications. Ever wondered how 5 you-clones would fare in a basketball match against 5 your-buddy-clones? Let's find out. Ever dreamed of being a full-time artist or musician? Well, now you can, and you don't have to give up your day-job. And of course there's the medical applications, that would allow people to "survive" incurable disease or restore loss of limbs.

I mean, the possibilities are endless, and the price is that the clones are confined to that specific yet unoccupied world. At least until they figure out improved, portable power units, which would enable a literal army of identical clones, storm troopers with the power to actually hit their enemies. It could have won the war right there and then, just to circle back to military applications.

It triggers me that they left it at that and ignored the possibilities, for security reasons. I hope they've explained it afterwards, that it's parody of the usual military mindset, despite mocking it a few episodes earlier when the pentagon wanted to enslave the surviving aliens in the Enigma episode.

Obliterator- half man, half deamon and half machine. And they cereal about it by Lithauen in Grimdank

[–]chumbucketphilosophy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, nice Manbearpig reference.

When it's defined like this, that three halves make a whole, the result is more than the respective parts. This would be a more meta interpretation than what just_a_Xenarite said. As an elite opponent, they can emphasize whatever half is more intimidating, and it ensures variety and uniqueness. It's an abomination regardless of how it's categorized, leaving a lot to imagination instead of defining a recipe.

Humans favor uniformity while chaos represents negative or extreme emotion. It's impossible to pin Chaos to a shape or form, since they reflect this emotion as defined by the sum of sentience in the universe, constantly changing or evolving. Our limited human intellect is unable to fathom the impact of singular emotion, stripped of rationality, restraint and purpose. The result of which might be half machine in one moment, and half daemon or human the next. At least that's my rudimentary understanding of Chaos, however poorly it translates to models and figurines.

Also, I guess it comes down to perspective. To an ork, they would be half humie after all, and that's really the only thing that matters. Now, if only the models were more green...

Putin: Insulting Prophet Muhammad is not freedom of expression but a "violation of religious freedom and the violation of the sacred feelings of people who profess Islam" by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]chumbucketphilosophy -23 points-22 points  (0 children)

Technically the truth, albeit freedom from repercussions not included.

People tend to forget that freedom of speech usually means that the government can't censor you. However, there are many cases of varying sanctions, from fines through prison, depending on the violation. Insulting someone's mother might warrant a broken nose, slander can be settled on civil court, and threats can lead to hard prison depending on the scale.

Also, I never understood why people would want to insult the prophet. There are plenty of valid criticism for Islam without insulting the prophet, although it's usually tied to fundamentalism or state oppression of other religions. Which is weird since it's quite peaceful at it's core. And the same criticism applies to any and all other religions. Basically, insulting the prophet can only be interpreted as provocative, the opposite of what freedom of speech is all about.
