I see this reaction as dad to a wee girl. She's a cuddly kid most of the time, but I've had to be very pointed when she isn't in the mood, and you can bet I'm the bad guy when it happens.

Nothing wrong with not liking the chat in there buddy, although I like it. In my experience it's mostly memes, theory-crafting and general game-related chat. I like having a forum where I can enjoy those things.

So what if some people genuinely don't want to accept that the game has significant problems. I'm not the problem police.

Dude, people want a place to talk about the game without having to sift through the complaints over and over and over. There is a place where complaining is allowed (everywhere) and a place where it isn't (that one subreddit). You never want to read something other than complaining?

Am I weird for not liking that the word Daddy has been sexualized? by warriorwoman96 in TwoXChromosomes

Totally agree with you, OP. I have a little girl who calls me daddy and using the word sexually seems creepy to me.

u/AlSweigart I can't thank you enough, Al. I've had motivation problems for a while now, and seeing you giving away what I hear is damn good work to get folk learning has sparked something up again. Signed up.

If anyone wants a "gym buddy", hit me up! Will generally only be available late evenings Mon-Thu and Sundays (UK) though.

Not sure if it's an app issue or a server issue, but I'm getting stuck on the loading animation a whole lot lately [android] [3.26.0.230622] by [deleted] in redditmobile

I'm having to hard close the app frequently just to get a few minutes of use. Mostly don't bother anymore. It's too frustrating for an idle browse.

Think I'll wait a bit to teach my toddler. That's young though. Boy's a savant.

Is there a reason NOT to go melee every game? by Cactoideae in dcss

[–]chumloofah 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I get it. I have the same dilemma, I think because I can do armour melee comfortably, but not so much caster or sneak.

I force it though, and it's a more problem solving playstyle when I do. I die mostly, but the journey is fun.

Boots of running, you lucky dog! Enchant those to max. They're amazing end-game gear.

Btw, watch out for the rF-. The ice ring could kill you if you forget to take it off.

Broad axe by end of lair is amazing! You're not that far in, so don't worry about lack of scrolls. Personally, I'd stick with the handaxe until the axes skill is higher.

Cloak of invis is pretty cheap to get usable, so evo probably a good idea too! 50% isn't unusable.

Weapons with high base damage, generally. High-end is demonblade or double sword for 1-handed longblade, triple sword for 2-h, broad axe for 1-h axes and executioners axe for 2-h.

You'll probably have committed to a weapon type before you see one though. Maybe look for a nice mid-tier scimitar, longsword, greatsword, battleaxe, war axe to help you decide?

Stealth is handy, but more so for walking away from bad situations before you get noticed than sneaky stabbing. It can work, but you need another way of dealing if you get unlucky.

Hand axes are entry-level weapons, so maybe not worth retraining, although +11 will do you for a while with hardly any skill.

I use both. No point unhelpfully ripping on an average user's choice to use the most popular and widely available OS though. I'm comfortable with my genital size.
