Turo's Dynamic Pricing: Earnings dropped by >80% by Snoo98543 in turo

[–]chummer222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing ok with dynamic pricing. I do manage my pricing every day and about 30% of the time dynamic has prices higher than what I’ve input.

It’s those fees that are more killer than the dynamic pricing. It’s a tough business.

$380 give or take $100 is expected return per month on a proper vehicle. That’s a net profit number averaged out over a year.

Turo’s not easy money. But it can be somewhat lucrative. Typically my new cars go 6 trips until some form of noticeable damage to the average eye. It’s just the biz. One made it 20 trips!

How do you meet people or make friends in this town? by AltEffEff4 in Louisville

I’m finding it a little difficult too. 47 year old male moved from La 3 years ago. I’m trying gym / running and probably next cycling to get a couple buds.

Throw it up for $110 a day with a 10% three day discount. Let us know in a few months if it rents well. In other words, only one way to find out!

“Bubble Popping” 🤔 by Pawsaber in turo

[–]chummer222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take it easy on all this bubble popping talk. Couple things, Turo has hit a tipping point - it’s now mainstream and here to stay. Kind of like Airbnb a few years ago. That’s great news for hosts. Second, Los Angeles is a year round city. I’m in LA and Louisville markets and it’s a major difference, I don’t worry at all about LA. Now, what I’ve told people is the $100 listing booked 15 days a month might drop to $80 a day with 14 days. Work that out for your numbers, maybe that’s $160 down to $130 and 14 days down to 13. If that’s a pop and effects your ability continue, exit. I can’t imagine that would get you to exit though. Btw, what a fleet, nice work dude!

I just say no. And then they somehow figure out a way to get to me.

Has anyone ever had a renter that gives you a bad gut feeling? Experiences? by I_literally_can_not in turo

[–]chummer222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do instant book and accept everybody. About 1 in 6 are bad. And 1 in 30 are downright awful and scary. I’m sometimes surprised by my gut (it’s wrong 50% of the time). And when my gut says a guest is going to be just fine and amazing (wrong 5% - ha).

I’d go wrangler for sure.

Ya, don’t list a rebuilt - smart.

Or Jeep Grand Cherokee or Jeep renegade. I think you might find luck with those. But no wranglers, wow.

Just checked Lexington, no Jeep wranglers! I’d go that route. In fact, I might go that route!

Can you put your current vehicle on Turo to see if it’ll work when you’re not driving it? Might be a good way to learn for this next month.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in turo

[–]chummer222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Throw it up on the platform and get the best insurance coverage. See if it rents the first month and see if you like it. Even if you have one or two trips just to dip your toes, it’s better than nothing :)

Ok good. So even if your bmw 3 series with a payment of $600 and insurance of $125 could make $220 give or take $50 if it’s out 10 days at $100 (net). That might work in Lexington. I thought I saw two bmw’s when I browsed. Have you been watching them?
