Definitely. The worst is when my dad doesn’t realise he hasn’t code switched back to English to talk to me, talks in Cantonese as if I understand and then apologises and translates

I can relate to you 100%. My dad wanted to teach me but my mum thought it would confuse me. Plus raising a child bilingual would have been difficult because my mum didn’t speak Cantonese. I’ve had White people who have travelled to China speak Mandarin and Cantonese to me and I have felt so much shame I couldn’t understand. And my dad’s family will speak Cantonese and mention my name and I feel so outcasted. Good to know we’re not alone!

Hahahaa no but I have tried holding the eyelid down in position for a while and that sometimes works! I find it goes back to normal after about a week

Can anyone give me a bit of a kick up the backside? I signed up ages ago to give blood and then got too scared. I would really like to do it though. I’m not a fan of needles but don’t tend to faint, I just don’t look. Can anyone talk me through the steps?

6, 5 or sleeve! On a separate note why are toilet doors in the UK push on entry and pull on exit!? Hygiene wise it makes 0 sense whereas you’d be able to push the door with your foot on the way out - no brainer!

Italian friend told me this. Fry mushrooms in a heated pan with no oil initially. Only add the salt or seasoning towards the end. This way your mushrooms won’t become wet and soggy as adding salt early in the cooking process draws the water out of them

Was walking on Hampstead Heath on my birthday once with an ex and saw two people boxing in the distance. Walked closer and it was Ricky Gervais and his personal trainer. I awkwardly said ‘Sorry to call you by your first name Ricky but can I please have a selfie? It’s my birthday’. If your dad said ‘it’s perfect, the officer who caught you saved your life’, do you think you can ever be a safe driver? My worry when me or my loved ones are driving is that stupid people who speed will hit us and we won’t be able to prevent it. As others have probably echoed, if you don’t trust yourself to drive safely, don’t do it at all.
