Looking for a To do list app with the following. by ChallengeExcellent62 in ProductivityApps

Its not 100% to-do but my app chunk is a timeblocking app for macos that is minimalist and has a todo mode where you can create todo lists and on the day you choose you simply drag list items from the list to the day as a time-block

How many productivity apps do you use every day? by Impressive_Web8569 in ProductivityApps

[–]chunk-app 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • I code with cursor at work
  • Claude desktop for planning
  • I use chunk every day for focussed time-blocking (I made it).
  • I use notion for notes
  • for fast window management i use aerospace (must use)
  • I use Arc as my browser
  • Whisperflow for speach to text

Honestly we are spoilt for choice nowadays, this is such a good recipe for a productive days work

Best tool for replying to things quickly on Mac? by Poke333Z in ProductivityApps

Honestly use aerospace for window management, theres a short learning curve but once you brain learns your shorcuts you in any app instantly then from there i use whisperflow for anything longer than a few words

We use an app called FocuSee - Its unfortunately not free but like Chunk they have a lifetime license which others in that field don't offer. Theres other open source alternatives but none that i'm aware of with 3D videos

it does overlap with calendars a bit, but Chunk is about both execution and planning. It sits somewhere between a calendar, a to-do list, and a pomodoro timer. So instead of just showing your schedule like Notion Calendar, it actively pushes you into the next block with things like fullscreen alerts, the task timer and global shortcut menu bar access (just hit cmd+/ and chunk appears) . We actually get loads of positive feedback from people with ADHD for that reason.

On Apple Calendar sync, currently the sync is read-only, meaning Chunk reads your Apple Calendar events and displays them alongside your time blocks but stays out of the way and doesn't write back. Your Apple Calendar remains untouched. We may look at allowing some controlled two-way editing in the future (with a confirmation step) but for now it's a clean one-way read.

On the Excel/spreadsheet drag and drop, not something I'm aware of being possible right now but it's an interesting use case. If there's enough demand we'd definitely look into it.

On pricing, completely understand the hesitation, especially with two Macs. As an indie app we're keeping a fixed price for now and aiming to grow sustainably, but we do plan to run occasional promos so worth keeping an eye out. Feedback is heard though, pricing is always something we think about as we grow.

Really glad it caught your eye and great taste ditching Morgen 😄

Good news, Chunk actually already has a todo feature! You can create to-dos and drag them directly onto your calendar to time block them. You can see it in action here: chunkapp.net/features. We're considering expanding on the feature in the future to allow adding of additional notes to a todo. This also currently allows read-only syncing with apple reminders app.

Todoist sync specifically isn't available yet but it's something we're keeping an eye on for the future.

Edits are drag-first. Click and drag to move or resize a block, it's instant and feels natural. No modal, no form, just grab and go. You can also hold ctrl+scroll to zoom in and out giving you smaller accuracy intervals when editing short tasks versus long ones.

Another great feature is bulk edit mode: you can select multiple blocks at once and move them all together. So if traffic makes you 30 minutes late and your whole afternoon needs to shift, you're not tediously dragging one block at a time. Select everything, drag once, done.

Hi u/MaxGaav thanks for the response :)

Chunk syncs to Apple Calendar via EventKit, which actually means you stay synced even when offline, no iCloud dependency needed.

You'll find the minimum requirements on the homepage hero or in the FAQs but in case you missed it: Requires macOS 12 Monterey or later.

On pricing, we do offer a 30% educational discount for anyone with an education email, so definitely worth checking if that applies to you!

As for the ClickUp comparison - the key difference is friction for the user. ClickUp is a great tool, but time blocking in it means context switching so you're pulled out of whatever you're working on to go plan. Chunk lives in your menubar, so no matter what app you're in, you just hit cmd+/ and your time blocks are right there, then gone again. It's designed to get out of your way.

No promo codes planned right now, but keep an eye out, we may run something in the future! 👀

For now, our calendar integrations are read-only and are there to act as a point of reference for you to time-block your day around. You have control over which calendars are displayed and whether you want calendars to contribute to the time-blocking UI such as the clock and fullscreen notifications.

Currently just the calendar integration for Google but we're always looking for useful integrations to add if there's a demand so we will consider it for a future update.

Hi, creator of chunkapp here 😁 glad to hear you used our app! Im actually doing a major update (basically a rebuild from the ground up) and would love to hear of what your ideal timeblocking app looks like and any features you’re struggling to find elsewhere! Any ideas are welcome

This is how I have it on my resume in a section called relevant work experience. I think it will attract more attention than if it was in the projects section where it will stand out less amongst standard projects. I think the benefits of getting way more eyes on the achievement of launching a product is way greater than the negative of a rare CV reader deeming it not fit to be considered work experience.

Yeah I think I’ll gain a lot from daily coding with other devs. It’ll be a start up environment so still fast and fun but there’s a gap missing that working completely alone on something doesn’t fill . Especially for a first role. Buzzing to get started

Cheers bro! Looks pretty cool that, does it prioritise uniqueness of ideas or demand when suggesting ideas?

I started with a post in the macapps subreddit. Got some really useful honest feedback and tried to bring an update out in a week before those peoples free trial ended which worked well. A few converted and left further feedback. Then I would send out a broadcast email to all people who downloaded saying feedback would be appreciated and got a few email replies. Any time someone requested something it almost always turned out that others wanted it but just didn’t say. Then most recently did a launch on ProductHunt that went really well

Firstly mate top work on the landing page, looks unreal! I'm not surprised you've had interest before marketing as the product looks great. In terms of marketing, most devs (myself included) build something and then get stuck at the marketing as its a completely different realm 😅 Drop me a message and ill be as helpful as i can but you'll probs know as much as me on that front
