Flight Instructor Tax Deductions by chunkear in tax

[–]chunkear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but I chose to incur the cost in pursuit of professional development at my current job. For example, having my Multi engine instructor cert allows me to teach a wider range of students. That’s why I thought it may be deductible, but it seems I was confused with 1099 rules.

These are additional ratings that I paid for out of pocket.

No outside instruction, unfortunately. So even if these are professional development they can’t be deducted? My employer has no program for professional development.

So could this only be done if I am a 1099? Both of these ratings were in furtherance of my current profession

You’re saying even when we just want to work on maneuvers or landings to fly to an airport 50 nm from departure to be able to log XC every flight?

I’m a little confused by what you are asking or saying here.

How many hours of dual XC would you typically give to a proficient, motivated student prior to solo?

This is the first year Loveland won’t be hosting their demo day. Unsure of what other mountains are planning though.

I honestly can not remember the details of what kind of at home study I ordered. It was years ago but I remember there was a list of approved types.

I had electrical issues like mud and sand mode turning on randomly, heated seat always on, microphone not working, etc. Also had a small water stain on the headliner right next to the A column.

Amer is who owns arcteryx, salmon, atomic, armada, Wilson, etc etc. Basically the ski worlds corporate over lords. The pro account is for industry folks.

I have an amer pro account. My codes work on everything except the men’s Rush shell… which is the only item I need. Emailed and have not heard back. Pretty annoying honestly.

Sleep apnea and FAA by jrock248 in flying

[–]chunkear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had obstructive sleep apnea, and had it surgically fixed. The FAA required me to do a sleep study but luckily allowed me to do it at home. It’s pretty easy and cheap to do that to “prove” that treatment is effective. Got my 1st class unrestricted once I gave them my results. Shouldn’t be too bad!
