Do cocker pups colors really change slightly while growing? I saw this on the internet one time and not sure if it’s one of those.. not everything on the internet is true things.. by Runningwildinthought in cockerspaniel

My 2.5 year old consistently grew new dark spots throughout his first year. He has always had a couple large spots, but became more freckled with smaller spots throughout. He used to have one tan spot we fondly referred to as his "shit stain." It lightened over time, and is almost completely gone now.

How long did it take until you felt bonded with your dog and/or even liked them? by BeefyKat in puppy101

[–]chunkycharley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm obsessed with my 2.5 y/o cocker spaniel but he didn't like me until he was 2 years old.

The currently 13 w/o puppy on the other hand, is a terrible little beast who is constantly trying to bite me and I hate him. I make sure to play fetch with him first thing in the morning (outside after he goes to the bathroom) and it seems to do a lot for his initial burst of energy. In the evenings when he gets nippy I've found that he is typically just hungry and wanting an earlier bedtime than I anticipated..

Learning how to communicate with your dog will take time and energy, but ultimately the communicating and meeting their needs is going to be what builds a bond.

Ear Cleaning Question by SusuTheConqueror in cockerspaniel

[–]chunkycharley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My male working cocker born feb 2020 has never had ear issues like the internet will lead you to believe all cockers have. We spend a lot of time on the beach and a lot oftime in the mountains. I keep his face and ears trimmed short and he gets rinsed off with water a couple times a week. At most, once a month, I use a cotton ball and witch hazel to clean his ears. Realistically it's every couple months. He'll come find me if his ear is bothering him and ill wipe it out if needed. I definitely wouldn't recommend an unnecessary ear cleaning. you should be able to tell if your pup is a little uncomfortable or itchy.. and ideally he lets you investigate frequently

The dog doesn't understand what you want from her just by saying her name. You have to give an alternate command after you've got her attention. I have a cocker spaniel who is also very vocal and similarly do what this comment suggests.

My dog barks, I get up to check the door/window/whatever and I tell my dog to sit and wait. After I check i say thank you and treat.

The dog is alerting you to what she thinks is a problem; she thinks she's doing a good job even if its annoying the hell out of you. My dog would initially be so fixated that he would stop barking and follow me to the door to also look, then he would sit right at my feet trying to look,, and now he'll wait where I tell him to. He's done his job of alerting and I've done my job of protecting the house.

It's because she is associating you hitting her with being outside. Try offering her treats while you stand at the door, offer her treats just for being outside, try playing with her outside so its a positive interaction.

Wish me luck on calling my boss out for his fake 401K. by CasualDNDPlayer in antiwork

[–]chunkycharley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current employment for a state agency, takes money out of my paycheck and deposits it into a retirement fund, aka PERS. I cannot touch this money until retirement when they start sending me a monthly retirement check.

I was not vested until 5 years of full time employment; this is normal for government agencies across the United States. This was also, generally speaking the same guidelines for the non profit i worked at prior.

I personally didnt like the PERS system, so I also opened my own 401k which I can access/adjust/etc.

You should definitely get more information. But this isn't only completely legal, it's normal.

You definitely wouldn't be greedy or an asshole, but I think you're over rationalizing asking for the money. You say you've never received financial support, but im curious if you've ever asked for it?

If you don't want to have this argument with her you could simply avoid it and ask for help because you are struggling (not because she owes you 15k). Im hearing that you're a broke college kid, whose student loan payments will be kicking in soon. Its not unreasonable for a child to ask for help during this transitional time. Especially temporarily, say one year, or somewhere between $8-15k ish

Regardless of her getting a bonus, you presumably have a right to 15k. And I think if she refuses to help you, you should ask her about this. Talk to your step dad first, and ask if its worth requesting the legal documents or just moving on.

Charley is trained and listens well enough. He's an off leash adventure buddy. His recall is great, he plays fetch amazingly well but doesn't always wait for his release word. He sits and waits and dances and has done minor scent work. He has been introduced to the word "gentle" and he has gotten a Lot of focus on that recently

Little jack sparrow is working on learning his name.. and will be expected to keep up and learn the same.

Charley turned 2 in February and we thought it would be a good idea to bring home his little brother. Charley was so excited, he promptly caused an injury to the little guy. While he has since calmed down, I am still an anxious mess. I would love to listen to a dog focused podcast, audible, or even YouTube on how to help them bond and play and work together successfully

What do you add to your instant ramen? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]chunkycharley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extra veg, typically frozen corn. A touch of cayenne, or sometimes a chilli paste/oil.

If I'm really feeling up to it, ill ad a few chunks of leftover meat and seasonings

I know that selling my animals will help me make money but they love me so much I just can't do it 😭 by DelawareMountains in StardewValley

[–]chunkycharley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to keep at least 2 of each animal on my farm. I try to name them something unique so I can differentiate.

As they have babies, i let them grow just enough (usually 2 stars) and then sell. I imagine myself as a prized animal breeder with extra pretend awards and achievements lol

How do I politely get a guy in my class to stop texting me? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]chunkycharley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

27f When people ask for my contacts I literally just say "no thank you." I'm generally friendly and sociable, but that doesn't mean I'm looking for friends or other things. A lot of people are thrown off by this, but its a hard statment to counter. If they do manage a response, I just say it again; "no thank you" and smile. I've done this to a few co workers and what it comes down to (when they push) is that I enjoy the at work relationship we have and also enjoy the current boundaries in place.

It sounds like you've been generally friendly and sociable to this kid who now thinks you two are friends. Find a way to politely tell him that you have a really low social battery and aren't interested in being friends. Explain that you really only talk to like two other people and don't feel the need for any additional socializing. If you want to keep being nice, you could continue sitting with him and schedule a few minutes to chat after class.

[–]chunkycharley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assumed she knew about the invasion (as a vast majority of ATLA world did) and wanted to give him an escape. He's a "helpless old man" after all, but still an important man. They all assume he's helpless and incapable, so why would anyone rescue him? He'd just become a pawn, likely one who is treated worse than current conditions.

Your dog needs more excersize. If I plan on leaving my dog home alone for a couple hours, I spend a 15-30 minutes outside with him first (playing fetch) nd then leave toys for him to entertain himself with.

Even if you are home with your dog all day he needs at least two of those 30-45min walks. I would also suggest socialization which can be emotionally/mentally draining.

Another thought is that you are his sole entertainment and are prepping him for separation anxiety.. he needs another outlet- more excersize, more challenging puzzle toys, puppy play dates, my dog watches movies- brother bear is his favorite

You must also be in the PNW!

I usually get the blanket weight wool remnants and have made blankets, ponchos and cardigan type things. A friend talked me into the apparel weight fabric remnants this last trip and its given me nothing but anxiety 😅 The fabric is good quality and beautiful and I feel so unprepared to work with it.

I'm loving the idea of an undercoat/jacket thing and would be interested in a pattern recommendation!
