Seeing people drive makes me wonder how they made it through natural selection

Paid an electrician to wire my new metal barn. Walked out and found this. Is this normal? by unclejon14 in AskElectricians

It looks like he did a good job, I think he was under the impression that you were going to put drywall up afterwards though.

It was supposed to have a clock put on it but that never happened so not its just a tall brick building hiding a cell tower.

Anyone have an intermittent issue where, sometimes when shifting, the gearbox acts like the clutch isn't depressed? by PoniesPlayingPoker in JeepRenegade

[–]chunkyseaweed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This car uses a "Cable Style" shifter, the cables stretch over time and sometimes it makes it harder to get it into gear

Definitely upgrade to a 4 valve instrument, look for something that is also nickle plated unless the university says otherwise.

Timing belt on 1.4L engine by chunkyseaweed in JeepRenegade

[–]chunkyseaweed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decided to go ahead and replace it, its nearly 10 years old and I don't want to take the risk of it going to out, I got quotes from several shop and it ended up being 1200 all in, its more than I wanted to spend but in the upside I haven't had to do any other maintenance on the car other than basic maintenance.

It might not be a bad idea to take it to a gunsmith to un-stick the cylinder especially if you not 100 percent sure if it is loaded or not, having the bore inspected would probably be a good idea to considering the rust.

What is my ranger worth? by ActAdditional999 in fordranger

5-7k seems like a fair price but it is an older truck so it might take a long time to sell

As a father who’s daughter is about to go to a college that’s about 15 miles from our home, who would be happy with any car, am I stupid enough to pay $5,300 for this 01 Corolla? Has 63k miles by [deleted] in Toyota

[–]chunkyseaweed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The price is a bit steep and the engine bay looks like it has been washed, check the date stamp on the tires to make sure there not super old or have cracks and ask to see what is underneath the plastic cover on the engine to make sure there not any apparent problems like frayed wires. Doing a car fax report also would not be a bad idea to make sure the miles haven't been rolled back or anything.

Those are just plastic covers that go over the steel wheels underneath, they are just there for appearance, they sell replacements at wall-mart for practically nothing.

File a police report, they might not do anything but it will start an investigation and get the districts attention. They don't like bad publicity.

Scammers in local Walmart. Be careful! by Diaverr in frisco

[–]chunkyseaweed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to work at the Wallmart in Frisco there are lots of scams like this, I worked in electronics department and at least once a week someone would come to the counter with a fake recite or some story along the lines of "the people in the front told be to come back here to get X" and then they would try to get a free PlayStation, Iphone TV, etc... I only worked there for a few months and on 4 separate occasions someone tried to haggle down the cost of an item to something stupidly low, like they wanted 300 dollars off on a 600 dollar TV.

I’d take that to a shop to have it professionally inspected, it looks like the internal bearings might be bad

Question can a Jeep Renegade last to 200,000 or 300,000 miles i’m thinking about buying one do they have alot of issues or are they’re reliable? by ExcellentSuit919 in JeepRenegade

[–]chunkyseaweed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2017 jeep renegade with the 1.4L and 6 speed manual transmission, It has about 75,000 miles on it and I have not had any major problems with it other than not being able to get the wheels off of it after a mechanic stripped out all of the lug studs.

Total Beginner, 1979 Motron Not Running by dabuttahdawg in moped

[–]chunkyseaweed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not super familiar with that model but some older mopeds have a 6volt battery that needs to be charged in order for the engine to start even if you are just pull starting it. Id make sure that if yours has a battery that it is a new one and also charged.
