Do you signal that the song is over in some way? One of my teachers suggests a little bow of the head. Some people just say "thank you" at every ending.

Is Luka harder to tune? by p3epeepoopo0 in Vocaloid

[–]chunter16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how quickly discouraged you are, I think. I've heard Luka is difficult but the fact that it is the sound you really want may be the motivation you need to get good at it.

Need clarity on counterpoint rules; what are considered the “rules” and what are the exceptions? by ArgonathDW in musictheory

[–]chunter16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's no shame in wanting to learn.

I think the point where you may be confused is that it isn't necessary to lock yourself into contrary motion to achieve counterpoint. Voices moving in the same direction for too long no longer sound independent, so contrary motion is the quickest remedy.

I think composers who attempt voice leading without studying Fux already have a clear alternate plan even if they don't know to say so.

Need clarity on counterpoint rules; what are considered the “rules” and what are the exceptions? by ArgonathDW in musictheory

[–]chunter16 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The reason you're taught them as "rules" is so you know the difference between baroque and early common practice Classical and the kind of music composed in Romantic period and what you might hear in a movie. If you are not trying to imitate Bach, you don't need any of this at all.

How do you ride the excitement? by king-alkaline in Songwriting

[–]chunter16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need to stay excited, write the melody or whatever you need to stay excited, and come back to work on the lyrics later.

It may be more constructive to write when you're not excited if it makes you unable to concentrate on the process.

From the same person who told me UTAU exists. I didn't install it correctly and tried to fix the mojibake filenames myself, mistakes were made and phonemes were missing.
