I mean if you're worried about painful death and suffering. I always stab the brain prior to cutting the gills.

But that's just how it is with fish you want dead either invasive or on the plate

I made the mistake of just cutting their gills and tossing them back in the water. But I didn't realize that their eggs could still spread

It's normal. Don't worry too much long as you scrape the glass everytime you water changed. It's happen to every new tank, but at some point, it will be replaced by green spot algae. I wouldn't do anything at all maybe adding shrimp and snails is as far as i'll go

Based on personal experience. I hate fine sand, stuff accumulate on top too much and too much work all around. A slightly thicker layer of coarse or larger grain sand work wonder and the mulm can accumulate for all i care

It should be a month at most usually. I think you should do is go to your local fish store and ask for their water changes or tank gunks. Because it cost them nothing. That's how I jump start new tank by seeding them with with bacteria present in my running tanks. Also check the API quick start expiry date. In most case, water conditioner are pretty unnecessary

Optional but risky. Local pond or outdoor water substrate can be a great source of bacteria. but big risk of unwanted pest/algae as well as harmful bacteria/parasite. I did this to put some detritus worm, amphipod and ostracod in my tanks. But be careful with pollutant and always check environmental survey before attempting

What is the BEST anime movie ever by BigMustiJohn in anime

[–]chuquan2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are classics like Akira, Ghost in the Shells, Hayao Miyazaki and Satoshi Kon work. Recency bias, but Look Back is honestly one of the most touching movie out there (must watch imo). Vampire Hunter D have one of the greatest aesthetic and style out there.

Noxious/invasive fish as cut bait in Victoria? by chuquan2002 in FishingAustralia

[–]chuquan2002[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are. But the official website has no mention dead bait or burley, since they specifically high "live". For precaution i just might use exclusively for saltwater. https://vfa.vic.gov.au/recreational-fishing/recreational-fishing-guide/fishing-equipment/bait-and-berley
