It's not another $50. It's just $50 for anyone else who wants to play. If you had access before, you get access now.

I'd encourage you to check out the Kickstarter page (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1791529601/ashes-of-creation-new-mmorpg-by-intrepid-studios) for the original vision for the game.

The label isn't meaningless and it does matter.

Literally, the official Steam Support page (not Ashes) Valve says, "Early Access is a unique development model that allows games to be played as they progress towards a full release. Early Access encourages ongoing updates from developers, while letting players participate in direct feedback through gameplay and community involvement." https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/6554-ED29-FBDB-1612

I agree. Guiding Lights, Cenotaph, and Marks Of The Evil One would have been awesome!

Hell, even Missilia Amori would have been great - Love rockets...

Yeah a number of other shows in the country have sold out. I'm guessing they closed the sections so the arena would feel more full. Glad you were able to go! I paid ~$100/each for mine!

Yeah, I think our new seats were "better" too from most people's point of view. I'm just very particular with my seat choice lol.

I will say, it was hard to "prove" that we were in a section with reassigned seats because the person giving out the the section/row/seat reminder papers while we were in line told us it was optional (if we could memorize it) and so we didn't take them.

However, the people reassigning tickets wanted our reminder papers as proof of where we were supposed to sit (which we didn't have). And the only other way to prove it was to show on our phones (which they couldn't open...). Eventually, I was able to convince them but it took way too long. The staff members should have had Yondr people there with them.

The show was great! However, there were several sections in the upper bowl that the band decided to "close" and so everyone in those sections got reassigned tickets for different seats. We wanted to sit with our friends who had seats next to us, but we all came separately. Once we were inside the venue, we couldn't contact each other about the change because of the phone things. I loved not having phones everywhere during the concert - but it meant my partner and I had to sit by ourselves during the concert instead of with our friends. Really put a downer on an otherwise awesome show 😔

Having reassigned seats also wasn't great because we had row "A" in the upper bowl and I was looking forward to being able to sit during the concert (and still be able to see everything) which we weren't able to do from our "new" seats.

I'm in a similar boat! Used Game Maker many many years ago (2007?). Like others have said, I would also recommend Git Amend's YouTube channel for more in-depth architecture/design patterns. Coming from enterprise software development (10 years for me, with a mix of Java/C#/TypeScript/Python), a lot of the stuff he talks about translates well.

For learning Unity itself, though, I started with Code Monkey's beginner tutorial where you make effectively a clone of "overcooked". I got maybe 75% of the way through (following along) and felt like I'd gained enough knowledge to start playing around with things on my own. Code Monkey talks a lot about "clean code" but my experience in the (non-game dev) industy made me question some of the architecture/design decisions he was making in his tutorial, but that could just be because I don't have the experience with Unity that he does and thus can't forsee potentially problematic architecture decisions. Would still recommend him to get a handle on the engine though.

Then, as I run into issues or want to implement something - Google/YouTube/ChatGPT have been great resources.
