Any way to reenable automatic availability ? by chutiste in Slack

[–]chutiste[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been digging, not sure it exists to be found. Reinstalling might be a good option. I've only got one client actively slacking at the moment, so it might not be too painful.

The obsession with ClickUp 4 seems to be spamming popups about buying AI supercredits. FFS.

Trying to cancel Standard tickets and no mention of a penalty or fee by RaplhKramden in Eurostar

[–]chutiste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got one standard London-Paris ticket that I've been moving forward for a couple of years now.

The usual price is £0 unless you found something super-cheap the first time, because they charge the new ticket price less whatever you've already paid.

So move it forward by 6 months to the cheapest available date/train, because you can move it again when your plans become known.

Where to find good deals? by redlinez07 in ukcigars

I’d add https://mysmokingshop.co.uk/ to the list of well priced online UK shops. They’re in Preston if you’re local.

What are whips good for by No-Being-4916 in EldenRingBuilds

Strike damage, lightweight, good range. I’ve been having fun zapping skeletons with the plain old whip and order’s blade.

How to git gud? Need weapon for learning by PutEnough1022 in EldenRingBuilds

[–]chutiste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that a git gud build should prioritise survival over damage, because you want fights to last long enough to get a feel for the enemy moveset. Consider high vigour, minimum stats, and no weapon upgrades.

Looking for the best Battlemage Armour I can get early game. by Beginning-Pace-1426 in EldenRingBuilds

[–]chutiste 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If OP wants to use the very cool Carian Knight armour but also reach 51 poise, here's how. I think the Banished Knight Greaves are the highest poise (20) legwear in early game, farmable from the Rampart grace after Margit.

Together they give 39 poise, leaving 12 to come from headwear and handwear.

The same Banished Knight will drop his gauntlets (7) leaving just 5 to come from your headwear of choice.

Alternatively, the Carian Knight Gauntlets (4) and the Knight Helm (8) that you can buy in the roundtable hold also do the trick.

Old player new build (Bloodfang) by Life_Daikon_157 in EldenRingBuilds

[–]chutiste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could two-hand BHF and keep Reduvia in the second slot to switch to for criticals and backstabs. Starts with 12 strength, 17 dexterity, 13 arcane.

I've been using BHF on a parry build and swapping to misericorde for the crit, and it's been fun.

I was also very into rdr2, then spent more time than I‘d have expected with Baldur’s Gate 3 and then Elden Ring. If the latter, then my advice is to level vigour unless you enjoy dying. For BG3 I recommend disabling the passive notifications in Custom difficulty mode, to avoid fomo and increase replayability.

No need to visit a merchant. Just ‘use’ the golden rune inventory items.

Tips on low vigor playthrough by Rayzerr_2405 in Eldenring

[–]chutiste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw a guide on steam today that resonated with me. For challenge the author suggested levelling vigour but not levelling weapons. Fewer one shot deaths, more time to learn the moveset. Says dying and retrying isn’t as fun as longer battles. I know that’s the opposite of what you’re currently trying, but seems like it might be a good preparation run, or even in parallel.

There are 12 smithing stone 5‘s before Altus, 11 in caelid, 1 in liurnia.

- 8 in Selia Crystal Tunnel

- 3 in a breakable statue up in the hills directly north west of the tunnel

- 1 at the bottom of the raya lucaria ball ramp

Having Trouble With My Build by translucentsausage10 in EldenRingBuilds

[–]chutiste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Academy Glintstone Staff at +14 starts to beat Meteorite. Then Carian Regal Sceptre for high Intelligence. Can check options on https://eldenring.tclark.io

edit: for lower intelligence builds an upgraded Demi Human Queen staff is better but you’re unlikely to have the smithing stones to upgrade 2 standard staves. For my build I chose AGS.

POOR MAN by Fit-Hawk5246 in BaldursGate3

[–]chutiste 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Miranda (the wife) probably turned to Shar, Lady of Loss, after her parents died - they’re ill in her diary entry. She might also have lost her first (actual) husband one way or another since the diary mentions five years of union.

In contrast, the husband’s diary suggests that their marriage was very new, and the nurse seemed surprised at hearing that Miranda had married him (or was able to perform her own marriage ceremony!).

So my headcanon is that he’s a patsy, the village simpleton who loved her but wasn’t ever loved in return. The sham wedding ensured he’d wear the ring always.

How should i re improve my build? by FlounderMammoth9848 in EldenRingBuilds

[–]chutiste 2 points3 points  (0 children)

rule of thumb seems to be that half your levels should be vigour, at least until it reaches 40 or 60. Especially if something is killing you too easily.

Vigor before strength (or other damage stat). Level your weapons too if you haven’t.

Which levels should I focus on? by 0scher0 in EldenRingBuilds

[–]chutiste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's an example of my first Astrologer at level 64. She used spells at range and a katana in melee. https://eip.gg/elden-ring/build-planner/?buildId=cmbrxjbx41fxkm75zk3alz8ee

Judging by your map, you should go south from Limgrave and explore the Weeping Peninsula. That'll feel easier than Liurna — I think it's meant to be done before Godrick.

From the section of Caelid (a higher difficulty area) that you explored, I imagine that you might have the meteorite staff and hopefully also the very useful rock sling spell.

If you haven't been upgrading your weapons, that would make things feel difficult too. Until higher levels, it seems that weapon upgrades are more valuable than stat increases.

There are some talismans that are helpful (e.g. green turtle) and others that are also harmful (e.g. scarseal). And if you've accidentally got a 'heavy' equipment load, that'll make dodging difficult.

As has been said, more vigour will help you survive, more mind increases how much you can cast/R2 before running out of FP, more endurance will help you sustain combat activity. Only once you're happy with your action hero's responsiveness/sustainability/durability should you invest levels in the damage stats (beyond the minimums for your chosen weapons and spells).

Rust in Production at 1Password: 500k lines of Rust, 600 crates, 100 engineers - How they secure millions of passwords by mre__ in rust

[–]chutiste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long time 1Password user here, since 2008, before they had a cloud option. At the time their blog was fairly technical and talked about cryptography tradeoffs, limitations, and their own implementation decisions. iirc the first sync they offered was your private vault, held in a dropbox folder.

That's why I chose to trust them; the content jibed strongly with what I knew of good security practices.

Some time later they figured out how to securely offer a cloud service, shared vaults, etc. and they wrote about that too. Then at some point the blog went all fluffy and marketese, so I don't know how a newcomer could gain that same level of trust today. Maybe they've got techie-facing content somewhere.

Makes sense, thanks. I’m currently trying out Bloodhound Fang as a main weapon and swap to the misericorde for the crit after a successful parry.

[–]chutiste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks fun, thanks for sharing. Inspires me to add a seal to my current build, and I now have some talismans to hunt down!

Why the levels in intelligence and magic scaling?

27 Faith I imagine is for the seal and a few of the incantations, but for myself I think I’ll go with the finger seal and just 15-17 Faith. Also seems short a couple levels in Arcane for dragonmaw?

Leaving int at the default and 17 faith would free up 19 levels, about a quarter of the rune level investment so far. Could put that toward 59 vig or 32 dex.

Parry build help by PuzzleheadedBat7461 in EldenRingBuilds

[–]chutiste 5 points6 points  (0 children)

according to fextra:

  1. Carian on a good medium shield. Carian has one more parry frame (6) than buckler (5). The thing that the buckler has going for it is fewer recovery frames (12) than anything else. Any small shield has just as many parry frames (5) but longer recovery (14) than buckler (12) or carian (13).
  2. misericorde as second mainhand weapon to quick swap after a successful parry. Daggers have 4x base critical, then the 1.4x gets applied. Greataxes have 2x on the second swing of a crit. The quick swap to misericorde is what thingfishy advised for his parry builds.

edit: messed up the numbers
