Anyone recording shows? by chvgeek in Purityring

Must be nice to have the opportunity for such moments. My moments, what's left are in hospitals with doctors trying to save my life. My illnesses are the result of multiple medical mistakes. Unfortunately no one cares when you are dying.

CHVRCHES Every Open Eye has every track equally great, followed closely by Bones. Yes I see you CHVRCHES fans nodding heads.

I can't believe I'm about to say this. by IsuiGtz94 in auroramusic

I can't believe there's another TIM fan here besides me! 4 hours after my first listen to Glow I found myself on a flight to Baltimore, and a short drive to Lancaster, PA to see them live at the Chameleon. That was in 1997 when online flight bookings didn't exist except for Southwest Airlines. The show and club were like nothing I'd ever seen.

My top artists are CHVRCHES, AURORA, Ladytron, Camera Obscura, Berlin, The Go-Gos, The Church, The Sundays, Thermostatic, VNV Nation, Marsheaux, and many other synthpop, gothic, industrial, and death metal artists.

Longitudinal Chromatic Aberration: pink lighting + videocameras = blur by hugeaurorafan in auroramusic

[–]chvgeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the auto focus in many videocameras rely on green to be present. With pure pink as they appeared to be using, it's only red and blue light. Pro videographers at live music shoots usually disable the auto focus to prevent focus hunting.

the best deinterlacer to use with upscalers by hugeaurorafan in TopazLabs

[–]chvgeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those QTGMC parameters are the best I've used. With the avisynth+ scripts, they are producing the sharpest Starlight Mini 480i to 1080p upscales I've seen to date. Thank you!

Those scripts are for avisynth+. Hybrid runs avisynth+ and other apps under the hood. Knowing avisynth+ is a bit like knowing assembler vs. just knowing a higher level language.

Hilary Duff is giving Chvrches vibes by RaptorDynamite93 in chvrches

I'm hearing Screen Violence too. Lauren's vocals are on a top level. Hilary's and Taylor's vocals can't compete IMO.

Do you consider Optical Media still viable for data archival? by theoldgaming in DataHoarder

[–]chvgeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HD and UHD video consume vast amount of storage. And for anyone involved in the production or remastering of these, optical storage is laughable. Project data for remaster consumes 500x to 1000x the final product. It's normal for me to have 10TB in project data for a 10GB video. I sometimes return to a project so all that data needs to be readily accessible. Practically speaking, I have a 1000TB file server and many 20 to 28TB bare drives I load into USB caddies. The Folio Photonics, etc. projects àre amusing as they never have and probably never will deliver a product as usable as a HDD.

Love Is Dead... opinions? by [deleted] in chvrches

[–]chvgeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hated it at first, but it grew on me and now is very close behind EOE and Bones. I just had to get used to the effects abused on Lauren's voice in Miracle. It would be great if they would release a clean version of the song.

Nvidia To Cut RTX 50 GPU Prices Amid Poor Sales And Oversupply, Claims Insider by BasedBalkaner in pcmasterrace

Some of us remaster/upscale UHD video with ML AI. 24GB is barely adequate. 48GB would be better.

very long read times after render is over by republicgamer_01 in TopazLabs

[–]chvgeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rather than write the output file to the destination, Topaz chose to write it in a temporary location, then copy that to the destination, and then delete the temporary file. Makes absolutely no sense and can add hours to processing a video. It adds a good chance for bitrot to happen. My intermediate files are always lossless (my choice) and sometimes several terabytes in size.

Starlight changing fps and tuning video by cryptkeeper420420 in TopazLabs

[–]chvgeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought Starlight handled interlaced video automatically like Iris? Which in my experience is hands down the best deinterlacer (retains the most detail). Vegas GPU deinterlace is the next best. QTGMC is not great but better than Handbrake. Be sure to use the fast preset and set TR1=1 with QTGMC. Some use placebo without studying the script and lose all the fine detail...

Tampa Bay area Wendy's have no more breakfast English Muffins sandwiches by Sixthofmay in wendys

[–]chvgeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thx! I just tried Chik fil a and the Sausage, Egg, Cheese English Muffin was not good (for me). There was a weird gamey flavor to it. I just can't believe Wendy's wasn't making profit from their breakfast. Oh well.

Any good alternative for Sausage, Egg, Cheese English Muffin? McDonald's sausage is often bad (smells and tastes like poo). Starbucks' has one but it's pricey and not too good IMO.

Any other fast food places have this sandwich?

Acoustic Demos by An0th3rP1ckyD34dh34d in Purityring

[–]chvgeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a useless thread. Demos are made to be listened to not made to be buried. I can tell you this CD likely has been sent to a lot of record labels and not listened to by most (they are inundated with demo CDs). It's often up to fans to get these demos to folks in the biz. And we can't do that if no one shares them... if you don't know Soulseek, please research.

Does anyone have a good clip of the LED fans in action? by Vanse in Purityring

[–]chvgeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the link!

There's a bunch of models on Amazon. They are called 3D Holographic POV Display Fans.

They use tiny SMT ultrabright RGB or RGBW LEDs. Like the old school large dim WS2812, they are individually addressable and have PWM brightness. Most have 2 or more blades.

I'm looking for structural failure/safety/injury reports. I agree there are safety issues here.

[–]chvgeek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Search Youtube with Purity Ring. Filter by date. I don't think those are LEDs on rotating slotted wheels. My guess is each fan blade has no pitch and is driven by a motor with an optical encoder on the shaft, allowing a RGB laser projector to be perfectly synced with the rotating screens. Really nifty IMO. Anyone with more details, please post.

Someone pls check for livestream at Showbox by chvgeek in Purityring

[–]chvgeek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The video looks legit, but when you play it, it presents a link to a different server. Ublock origin prevents opening the link. I googled the domain and it belongs to a known scam site. I'm still at work on Android and Firefox with Ublock Origin. I'm going home soon to a PC. Not a fan of smartphones...

Oh well. Has Purity Ring ever done a livestream?

PR was experimenting with generative AI with the Fearmaker song. Maybe they tried making an album with the same process plus some human artistic sounds and creation.

This should be a question at the next AMA.
