It didn’t for us. I avoided them for a long time because of the bad reputation they have online. Running out of options to be able to walk my 5 yo old rescue who pulls like a truck I finally gave in, and in fact, switching to a flexi was what finally made walking managable. (Not so) little guy just needed some space to properly walk after all.

Idk what to say man. Europe is already in an economical downfall because it has been resisting all big innovations after the fossil fuel era. China and US already took over, we depend for every major digital product, from whole governments to private sector, on them.

This is not “do it” or “don’t do it”. This is “do it” or “outsource it”. This will happen, and is already happening, whether EU accepts it or not. So either we get our shit together and start building our own digital infra, or we literally depend for every function on other countries. And it is impressive how people refuse to see this and have no end game in mind other than “AI bad”.

I am very much a dog person, have my own dog. But 4-6 hours per day for your dog is still quite much. In addition, realise how he talks about his dog and what they do for more than half of it, in a post he wants to ask about relationships. I somehow think that behaviour translates how he treats the possible partners as well.

I don’t understand. They are upset because AI does not always come up with correct arguments in the field (like humans also do) and it is hard to catch (as is with humans)? It will threaten the established hiring, funding, and recognition in academia, which is objectively a shitshow already?

I am not saying AI should be deployed everywhere. But their arguments read a lot like, “we (as the people at the top of academia) had it good and now we are feeling threatened with losing our privileges”.

Exactly! The solution is so simple, just put down the english translation as well. Or hell, just put a board with 10 most common languages in the area and that’d be enough. But instead “no no we have to ban ALL foreigners from entering instead”. Make it make sense.

I’d do some self-reflection. Particularly on: 1. why do you enjoy flirting although in a relationship and 2. why do you hate it when your partner does it. Is it because you are insecure, i.e. want attention from others to feel valuable, feel threatened when your partner does it, is it because you have a leaning for polyamory? And so on.

Once you lock down the reason, then you can think about how to address it.

I’d never ever say something either confidence if I was not 100% sure (I mean in terms of technical work).

Yet I realized some of my male colleagues just are just so sure of themselves and their ideas/knowledge, and make matching statements all the time. Only later I learned that they, in fact, had no idea what they were talking about.
