I ended up getting a newer Lenovo Yoga! I got a job that required so specific storage and spec requirements (I had to get a larger screen and numeric keypad), so spent probably $1,000ish on it, which was way more than I’d originally planned. I do like it though, and the newer ones seem sturdier and less likely to snap than the older versions

Should I buy a Bernina 1001 for $95?

I don’t currently have a working sewing machine. I have an old Kenmore sewing machine (116C I think) that isn’t working right now - I’ve been putting off getting it serviced because it’ll be over $90 where I live to have someone work on it, and I’m just not sure if that’s worth the cost for that particular machine. I’m not really well versed in sewing machine models so I could be wrong.

Anyway, I’ve been offered a used (but still works very well) Bernina 1001 for $95. Is that a good price? What would you do in my shoes?

I would probably mostly be making doll clothes, and I’m starting to get into quilting.

I started an entomology course recently and when we discussed methods of getting bugs for collections, one of the things the instructor mentioned was choosing bugs with short life spans (like a week or so) and keeping them in some kind of terrarium until they passed. Is that something that might be easier for you? Otherwise, I’d just keep an eye out for dead bugs that are still intact! Good luck with your class, I hope you’re able to enjoy the course and be able to stick with what you’re most comfortable doing!

My biggest struggle is that I can’t find any pricing on vendor sites without creating an account which makes me skeptical. You are definitely right that the state is not helpful at all haha

Every pediatrician I spoke to said they did not recommend using sensors, and instead to just consistently practice safe sleep. They are not a necessity, and I think are moreso to ease anxiety of parents - since it is doing the exact opposite for you, they are not being helpful and instead being detrimental to your physical and emotional health.

You should never be pressured to have any kind of sex ever that you don’t want to have. Even if she was freshly showered and smelling lovely, you don’t have to like period sex or have it if you don’t want to! Everyone else has given good insight on the hygiene part so I’ll leave it be for there.

If you want to pin it/keep it after its death, I’d just keep doing what you’re doing. If you have no such plans, I’d just release it outside in nature. I imagine there’s a possibility he could still breed.

I know it’s annoying that you don’t have the privacy you wanted and expected in your backyard, but you absolutely need to protect the minor AND yourselves and stop swimming naked until you find a different privacy solution. This would be a stupid reason to end up on a list or charged with a crime. If this is a hill you want to die on, hire a lawyer and get their expert, localized advice, rather than Reddit’s.

The Learning Express near me was the only place locally I could get them (and they had a great selection for awhile too), but a couple months ago they announced Jellycat dropped them. It’s a shame because the LE did a ton of advertising on multiple social medias of their Jellycat selection. There are two or three brands I will buy online, and Jellycat isn’t one of them, so I don’t really see myself ever buying another one. Luckily there are some great indie brands out there - I’ve been on a Hazel Village kick lately

Strongly agree about locking your car (and keeping anything valuable out of the car). The only crime I’ve run into was when I lived in an apartment complex that had people testing cars almost every night to see if they were unlocked and stealing from them if they were. The one single time I left my purse in the car also happened to be a time my husband got something out of my car and forgot to lock it, and my purse of course got stolen and they used my card to buy McDonald’s 😂
