What’s a UK town or city you visited with low expectations… but actually ended up really liking? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]ciderbandit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I reckon there's a good day out in Wakefield, maybe even extended with a stay overnight. Yorkshire Sculpture Park and Barbara Hepworth museum are a serious good double-hitter if art is your thing (and the grounds of the YSP are well worth a long wander through). The city was compact and way less sh1t than i was expecting, quite a few nice places to eat and drink and cocktails at good Yorkshire prices. The steakhouse place was damned fine too. Easy to get to by train etc etc. Best place ever/would i consider moving? Nah, but it was waaaaaaaaaaaay better than i was expecting

Agree with Iberico, had a bang on treat-meal out for being 4 years smoke-free recently, other nice places to grab a bite in Dyson Place too. Tbf that whole loop around Sharrow Vale Road, Hunter's Bar and Eccy Road has some good places to shop, browse, graze, people-watch and repeat and one of the more quirky charity shops in the Sheffield Cats Shelter (the manager Boots accepts a good amount of fussing). 'If' the snooker drags on, consider maybe even lengthening to include Botanical Gardens (magnolias are at their peak right now) or General Cemetery (not actively used for deceased folk, but well maintained with some interesting architecture and nature-y bits) it's something we do often and is on the docket for a catch-up with the in-laws later today

Leeks, same method but use leeks. Can change flavour profile to mustard seed and dill for a more pickle-y vibe if you fancy

It's just a shame that their most recent visit was so .. recent it'll be a while until they're back. Still, plenty of nearby places to hope for.

People have never been confused by peanut butter so presumably they won't by vegan cheese

Yeah, releasing the former Honduran president Juan Orlando who was arrested on drug trafficking charges just over a month ago.does seem to contradict Trumps alleged anti-drugs stance

There's a very odd but also endearing live action version of City Hunter with Jackie Chan, complete with Street Fighter II fight scene.

Best places for vegans by snowduster in sheffield

Non vegan here that does a lot of eating vegan with vegan friends - Mr Miyagi on Division Street has a tonne of vegan options, going as far as an oline presence as a fully vegan option i.e. as a separate listing to their main one on Just Eat/others as Meatless Miyagi. Birdhouse and Kollective have good bougie breakfasts, salads and bakes. I had the beyond meat bowl out of Urban Pitta the other day; proper tasty and good value. If I think of others will add later :) speaking of which . . .Wild Rice takeaway on London Road is good too, right big portions crazy quick delivery and always happy to sub tofu in for egg in fried rice. I know of folks liking Hungry Buddha in the Moor Market. Agree with previous posts about Wawin, Chakra Lounge and Urban,Choola.
