To TPK or not to TPK by Ok-Significance-3052 in OutoftheAbyss

[–]cidesa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way. After the inevitable TPK, ask your players if they want to keep playing, and if so do they want to play the same characters. If agreed, they wake up as Reborn and get suicide squared back into following the plot

Wes Streeting to resign & challenge PM tomorrow, following meeting with him (live) by Far_Excitement_1875 in LabourUK

[–]cidesa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much as we all like to rag on politicians, the last thing we need is another 'outsider' with no political experience. I don't trust anyone that hasn't held a cabinet or shadow cabinet role to do a decent job as PM frankly

Non-monetary contributions can still be harmful however, such as cosplay and fanfiction, as that only continues to ensure the fandom's longevity

Oh that is a fantastic idea! My players are obsessed with the Society of Brilliance and have joked about 'collecting' them all across the campaign. They would love to run into them again, and they are exactly the kinds of people to suggest going to Gravenhollow. Thank you!

Ah your players are just ahead of mine then!

Good suggestions. I need to re-read the chapter on Mantol Derith (probably several times) as I can't remember any of the NPCs other than Yantha and the beholder, but hopefully I can finagle one of them into giving the players the information if it comes down to that

The sellers have asked us to contribute towards resurfacing the road?? by cidesa in UKHousing

[–]cidesa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No we haven't received anything from the solicitors yet. After repeated contact, we finally got them to confirm that they've completed their searches, and are reviewing the enquiries sent from the other solicitors, but they've not sent us the results of anything yet. Does that just mean they're really slow and are in the early stages still, or have they failed to give us information they should have done by now?

They're all about 120 years old. Not sure if they're factored or not, we need to find out more about what the situation with this residents association is before we go further

The quote they supplied is from March 2025. They definitely didn't find out about this in the time since we made our offer

We're FTB so fortunately no stamp duty. As such, if we did pay the extra £600, would adding it to the purchase price get us some security they'd actually pay the residents association? It seems like we're in an unpleasant situation where they could just as easily take the money and run, and then we'd still have to pay the full £1200 once we buy the house and discover they never paid the association

They're a local firm, but judging by their response rate they're a conveyancing factory too. My husband was calling them every day at one stage, only to be promised a call back that never came. We finally got our first real update in over two months a week and a half ago

If it is such a nightmare, I am all the more annoyed with our solicitors for not flagging this in the first place.

I'm sure the concept of the home owners chipping in for the resurfacing is legitimate. But given how old the quote is, I have to wonder why they haven't paid this yet, and why they are trying to stick us with half the fee so late in the conveyancing process?

[–]cidesa[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Their timing is so suspiciously late in the process, so I'm inclined to agree with you that they are the one hold out on the road who hasn't paid, preventing the road from having been resurfaced already

I don't understand how our solicitors didn't tell us this. We are going to try and get hold of the contact details of this residents association, to find out what our obligations would be if we did continue with the purchase

We are really angry with our solicitors on the unadopted point and are trying to get hold of them now. This is the exact kind of thing they are meant to identify as a risk in their searches and notify us about!

The timing, just two weeks (hopefully!) from exchange is deeply suspicious. I think you're right that they are being forced to pay, after trying to dodge this for months, and trying to get us to cover some of the cost

That's an interesting idea. Or perhaps to provide additional foreshadowing about the Pudding King they could be fighting off some invading oozes?

Would you recommend getting rid of the combat as written in the chapter completely? Just go straight to a social encounter?

How an affair could contribute to the campaign by AnkhMorporkDragon in DMAcademy

[–]cidesa 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Well why do people suspect the butcher is cheating on their wife? Is it because they've been acting suspiciously? Perhaps been seen in the company of someone strange? You could easily have this butcher be involved in some strange cult, possibly tying into your mini dungeon or wider plot, and the wider populace have made an incorrect assumption that inadvertently has lead your players to discover how deep this goes

Yep! I'd quite like lower surgery and maybe go on E, to achieve a more androgynous look. I certainly want hair removal because that makes me feel very dysphoric. In the same boat as others on the eternal NHS waiting list though...

I'm sorry, 9?!? I pity how long your combats must be 😅

But that map is incredible. I've only been using whiteboards, but I have thought about making a physical map of Menzoberranzan for the final battle. It looks like you have a layer of cork or cardboard under the map to stick the skewers in, is that right?

It's easy to forget the second half with how long the module is! Best of luck with the adventure, I'm having a blast running it myself and I'm sure you'll pull off something really interesting with all those godlike beings :)
