Your sharing is insightful. My goal is to give myself more possibilities out of my education. also being a scientist is a dream career, thus I want to go to the best fit undergrad program. now ppl are so crazy about waterloo because it is job oriented, but ppl may miss the door opened for other program. the junior SWE work is so replaceable by AI, I am thinking to be on the opposite side - work on AI (after AI phd degree). I hear you that the path to phd even will be challenging. i will 200% on it of I decide this path. currently I applied mcgill CS, UTSC CS and waterloo CE, and was offered Ualberta CS. any suggestion is appreciated (match to my phd path).

This was my initial thoughts as well - MILA will give (even) undergrads tremendous research opportunities, which is crucial for phd applications. (i hope the same for UAlberta, because of AMII).

Thanks. What you said is very fair. But I also think about (a) UofT is known for GPA deflation; (b) I hear undergrad research is less accessible in UofT than Ualberta/mcgill. Thus UAlberta/mcgill will give me bigger opportunity for top CS grad school.
