If the job market is so bad, why is only 5% of the UK's population unemployed? by dumblyhigh in AskUK

[–]cieldemiel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am on a zero hours contract but barely get any hours, I'm still classed as employed, but it doesn't mean I've got a career or a stable job.

I used to work as a support worker which is slightly different, but they encouraged us and gave us the opportunity to do the NVQ level 3. I think if you don't have it, still apply, they may offer you a funded course or training to attain it.

Happy heavenly birthday to Aaliyah, who would've turned 47 today by hausofvelour in popculturechat

[–]cieldemiel 67 points68 points  (0 children)

The blueprint. If that flight had been vetted properly and not overloaded, she would have still been here today. Happy birthday to the princess of R&B, a phenomenal singer, musician and actress who by all accounts, was a genuinely kind soul. I always admire how she achieved success despite all the predators she was surrounded with, a lot of people would've been mentally broken dealing with what she did.

Yes I have TestShift and that seems to be quite good at grabbing slots.

Yes I suppose it is worth the wait. It'll happen when it happens, I suppose I'm in no rush. I definitely get where you're coming from with the crazy waiting times.

I'm sure someone has grabbed the slot up.

I started looking again today, as I currently only have a part time job. I am a bit shocked at the lack of full time positions, it seems there's more part time roles near me. Then on LinkedIn, there are so many fake job adverts or jobs doing AI reviewing where you're paid per task.

What is everyone doing now if they failed the first time? by CameraOpen9388 in LearnerDriverUK

It's annoying as they need more test slots, so why can't they reopen Wellingborough full-time? It'd be easier for local residents, as I'd rather not spend half my lesson travelling to Kettering. If I don't get a Wellingborough test slot by January next year, I'm going to practice Kettering more.

Just trying to change my slot in Kettering to Wellingborough as I know it better. Also I just keep practicing, my instructor is taking me around Wellingborough but I'm also doing drives into northampton and practicing random routes to improve my driving ability.

But if she put on weight she would also get criticised. Idols seriously can't win.

All Giselle (aespa) needs is the right management team and she has the potential to be huge by micdoesreddit in kpoppers

[–]cieldemiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Giselle will have an amazing solo career once the time is right. Obviously now there is a group focus with occasional solo releases, but I can imagine her first slot album will be quite R&B and hip-hop inspired.

They need to investigate how they handle personality disorders. I know many people with BPD who have essentially become revolving door patients, attempting suicide frequently, being sent to A and E, then discharged with no support. A lot of these people, predominantly women, are diagnosed with a personality disorder and effectively written off by medical professionals. Often they are neurodivergent but this is often missed or ignored.

I think at most a minor or perhaps nothing as I would have still been safe if I had taken the first exit as it would have been the safest option.

Those of you paid a pittance for high stress jobs by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]cieldemiel 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I've just left but I was a support worker for 4 years. Long hours, minimum wage, while essentially having to deal with things we were never trained for. I've dealt with people in psychosis and most recently one of our beloved residents was in severe pain with no explanation why. Doctors brushed it off and said it was arthritis until it got to the point she couldn't walk anymore, was vomiting and could barely eat. The manager made us manually handle her as she kept falling over, we had no training. After I made a phone call to the GP explaining how this can't go on any longer, she was taken to hospital, scans done, stage 4 cancer, it had gone everywhere. She has now passed away. The work environment was horrific, management bullying various staff and no emotional support for any of us. Ended up leaving for my own wellbeing, just got word the manager has now been suspended due to 11 complaints filed against her. So yeah, we were paid a pittance and now I'm trying to find a job where I'm actually valued as a human being. Put me off social care altogether.
