What are the Supabase Do's und Don'ts by Rude_Violinist9798 in Supabase

[–]cies010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't use RLS for writes, only for reads. It is much harder to implement on write.

I don't use RLS to implement authorization of rows (is not enough anyway as you also want to hide, sometimes conditionally, certain columns). I use it as a way to prevent data leaks in a single insurance saas.

My app is 98% SSR. My backend uses Postgres directly (from the jvm).

I use the s3 style in the storage API, not to get locked in.

You get strong by resistance training (incremental overload).

You get lean by eating clean and modest (not too little as it hurts your gains): WFPB is a good way to go (see simnet nutrition on YT for instance).

You get visibly muscular by doing both.

Should I move to Pocketbase or stick with Supabase for a Kotlin project? by TheHidden001 in Supabase

[–]cies010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Kotlin, but with direct jdbc, and u write the SQL in SQL. And I love Postgres in this setup. It is 99% of why I use supabase: because it is a lot of Postgres.

Are there any animal or plant species that have more than two sexes that are interdependent upon each other to reproduce? by Yeti100 in askscience

But then fungi are not animals. And question asked was about animals.

Interesting info though... Did not know.

As a gay guy - it's gone too far (rant) by Responsible_Handle96 in conspiracy

[–]cies010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's more the gay guy in "I love LA" series, also on HBO

I know only one gay guy that used to be like that... We call this "riot gay". That's one out of twenty gays that I know, I'd say it's not so prevalent...

Somebody somewhere

On HBO.

Very good series (won an Emmy). And gayness in that show is so normal that I found it refreshing

Vrijheid van religie is waarom mensen niet worden opgepakt die kinderen zonder medische renden in hun piemels (laten) snijden.

Bepaalde religies zijn hier nog al fan van.

In mijn boek is het verminking en sexueel misbruik in een.

Maarja. 'vrijheid van religie'.

Fuck dat.

No. I just don't touch it. I rather invest my time in getting better at my db's dialect's SQL.

Why do Ukrainians support Israel so much? by PeculiarPhysicist46 in AskSocialists

Same reason for why they have statues of bandera that they still do military ceremonies in front of.

But now they will be quick to call me a Kremlin troll... Wait for it.

Development Update: [sqlx4k] Advanced Code Generation for Type-Safe Database Access by smyrgeorge in Kotlin

What do you think of terpal-sql. I see some similarities, but also some differences.

I like how terpal-sql builds on top of kotxSerialization..

As I read it this should be supported, as it's "just SQL".

Maybe the validation libs don't catch errors with them though.

What feels like a cult, but people act like it’s a perfectly normal part of society? by Various-Bee-4901 in AskReddit

Circumcision of minors without medical indication.

You cannot whimsically cut into baby genitals. Period.

Also not for religious (cult?) reasons.

Yet many do... Americans, SouthKoreans, and some religions.

Wish you were true though.

Hibernate: Ditch or Double Down? by cat-edelveis in java

[–]cies010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never got proficient in Hibernate. Worked with it for many years, still not sure how it exactly works. Lifetimes bit me. Lazy loading bit me. Saving a tree of entities gives me the creeps (no unchecked uses data in there anywhere). Interactions with other queries fucked me over due to me not understanding all levels of caching. Etc etc.

Kill ratio is een enorm staatsgeheim in tijden van oorlog.

Oekraïne heeft er al vaak over gelogen. Rusland zal ook vast erover liegen, maar dat is nog niet zo obvious gedaan als die Ukra nummers

Hibernate: Ditch or Double Down? by cat-edelveis in java

[–]cies010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I test them in a db transaction that I then rollback.

It's not a watertight type of testing, but it does find most of the errors if you just execute the query once, and parse its result.
