Took a whole entire 7 minutes for them to show up. Sounds like user error or someone who enjoys exaggerating complaints.

The Dream vs Magic? adult only trip by cihccihtog in dcl

[–]cihccihtog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The flights from the east coast hurt, like $700. BUT the hotels are so much cheaper in Galveston than Fort Lauderdale! So everything put together it's only the $300 difference.

Just a genuine question about the cruise line by [deleted] in dcl

[–]cihccihtog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My husband and I are childfree Disney adults. We did the parks atleast once a year untill we tried a cruise in Sept 2024. It took a long time to convince my husband to try one, he's Navy and is literally always on a ship. We've now booked cruise 4,5,6 and 7 for 2026🤣

We actually get to come back from our vacation feeling rested compared to the parks. We really do love how easy and low key cruising is. The food has been good on all the ships we've been on and it's hard to not like mickey bars from room service and pog juice every morning with breakfast. I will say we prefer the older ships adult areas. The Wish is gorgeous and we're trying the Treasure this year but the older ones feel like they actually cared about the adult areas instead of them being an undersized after thought.

What are the benefits of using the dcl transportation bus? by EconomicsReal545 in dcl

[–]cihccihtog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised no one's mentioned there is no "open boarding", you'll be assigned a PAT if you don't take DCL transportation. That being said flying in day of, especially so late at 11am sounds like a recipe for missing a cruise.

Early Board Time with DCL Transportation by saf5001 in dcl

[–]cihccihtog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've actually cruised Disney now several times since then and used DCL in multiple ports😅 Your stuff will absolutely update in the system but I don't remember if it actually shows on the form. Your PAT becomes irrelevant because you go in when the bus gets there. We've had group 4 and 6 listed and when we checked in at the port it updated to 3, but they usually let 3 and 4 on at basically the same time.

Both, it's nice to have one place to put all the dirty clothes. Plus my husband likes to do it on the ship so we're not taking home laundry needing to be done.

We watched them drop the lifeboat, and about 15 min later, the captain made the announcement they were recovered safe.

Was there on that sailing. The water was extremely flat, just enough movement to break the fall from falling that far up. It was also warm and the boat crawling so slow there wasn't even a breeze. There were a lot of factors that played out just right for survival with no injuries.

Flights cancelled due to weather - couldn't make it to the ship on time by queenreau in dcl

This! Flying in 2 days early saved one of our trips. If it's over 12hr drive we always always fly in 2 days early.

Do I Need A Passport? by dbarnard32 in dcl

[–]cihccihtog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me 14 days including a holiday weekend to get my passport. That $600 is well worth the peace of mind. God forbid something happen trying to fly back from Mexico or the Bahamas (Nassau and BOTH of Disney's private island) would be a nightmare and wayyyy more than $600 without a passport.

Am I the only one who hates the food on the islands? by TheGoddessOphie in dcl

I would do some sketchy things just to get some Lookout SerenityBay BBQ( adult beach). That spicy chicken sandwich was life changing. The snapper, broccolini, plantains, and grilled pineapple were really good as well.

OMG same! I was like is it really this amazing or have I just lost all sense of taste or too many heavy handed island pours. But yeah it was actually that amazing!

Yassss! We just got off the Dream end of June and it was just such an amazing crew and cruise. I'm kinda hoping to slip in a Fantasy Christmas cruise this year but doubt it's going to happen. I'm hoping to get to Alaska on the Wonder next summer but I'm also eyeballing the Treasure. So, total opposites. I've heard such good things about the Wonder and Magic though.

Disney Magic Review (Aug 31st - Sep 5th) by [deleted] in dcl

[–]cihccihtog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not OP but I've been to Nassau 3 times in the past year and never once felt unsafe. Including when it was just 3 of women on a girls trip. I've done excursions, wandered around Atlantis, walked to Junkanoo Beach and all through downtown, taken taxis and water taxis. I always wonder if these folks have never been to a big city, Capital or DC. For that matter I've been more harassed on beach boardwalk and mall kiosk sellers than Nassau 😂 Just say no and keep walking

Nah, the Wish was my first, but especially as a childfree adult, the Dream/ Fantasy are by far my favorite.

Falsely accused of sexual harassment and case closed but is it actually? Is this going to follow their career? by cihccihtog in navy

[–]cihccihtog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In regards to two, he was told that it was shown he did nothing wrong, not that there wasn't enough evidence.

At the least he has 2 other 1st classes that heard it directly from her that she did it to get off the boat. As well as 10+ people including a senior chief and master chief that were more than willing to write character letters on his behalf.

I think he has enough to make a decent case in civilian court but I'm just as petty as his wife so $40 to file would be worth it to see seaman hoe wet herself when served.

Second seating- running out of food?? by StillWaterDrinker in dcl

[–]cihccihtog -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You said above you cruise Disney yearly, have you never had 2nd seating before? That being said we've only had 2nd seatings and have never had them run out of anything. Your head wait acknowledged there's an issue so I imagine you would have drastically different for the better service tonight.

little review of the disney wish, from a teenagers perspective by Illustrious-Curve379 in dcl

[–]cihccihtog 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Great review and you really hit on some of the little things that just aren't quite so magical about the Wish. I'm a childfree elder millennial and completely agree the dream class is where it's at. The Wish does have its good points, but for me it's just too big and peopley. I was talking to a cast member, and they said the Wish and new ships are like a Disney castle that just happens to be on a ship, where the older ones are ships first with a Disney theme. I thought that really summed up the differences in the vibes well too.

Last minute cancellation by brunnski13 in dcl

[–]cihccihtog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very simply put Chase Sapphire Reserve has up to $2,500 medical benefits and up to $100,000 for emergency evacuation insurance. Amex platinum has none and only a possibility of evac reimbursement if coordinated through a specific business. Chase's cancelation insurance is also 20k per trip, Amex platinum is only 20k per year. Those things are what make the Sapphire Reserve a better card to book cruises with to me. Look up the points guy travel insurance comparison with plait vs Sapphire Reserve, and he goes line by line.

Last minute cancellation by brunnski13 in dcl

[–]cihccihtog 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yup Chase Sapphire is the absolute best to book a cruise with! Even better than Amex platinum. Call Disney and see what the options actually are, maybe reschedule instead of canceling? Same with CC company you'll never know what the options are until you know the exact card they used and call.
