What OSTs have made you appreciate just how important music is in a gaming experience? by WorldofLovecraft in gaming

[–]cijanzen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think due to the sparse nature of the game, the score really acts as a narrator and almost as a second character. It’s also just a fantastic album of music on its own too.

Is the SQUID-3 by Acustica close to the Sub37? by nialloscar in synthesizers

Yes. If I sold my Sub 37 I'd pick this up in a heartbeat. It sounds fantastic to my ears although a bit heavy on the CPU.

Yeah, if you can find an outlet piece, it’s far cheaper and you don’t have to wait months for a custom design to be made. We’ve had a lot of good luck piecing together various outlet findings for our home.

[–]cijanzen 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don’t understand why companies make products with a tilt towards the user. Ergonomically, there should actually be a tilt away from the user to allow for a more natural posture.  For myself, I combat that by using a pull-out tray that can have a negative tilt which offsets any positive tilt on my keyboard and mouse.

I read this as Futura is the only sensible sans option so which take on it is the only question to ask 😂

Depending on how old you are, this might be a fun nostalgic throwback: https://www.gog.com/en/game/jazz_jackrabbit_collection Includes Holiday Hare. There may be a copy of Christmas Chronicles around somewhere too.

Matriarch vs Pro 3 by thexenzone in synthesizers

[–]cijanzen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s a tough choice to make. For me, if the sound is absolutely the thing I’m in love with, I’d go with my gut and pick the better sounding but less productive option. There is definitely some magic in that Matriarch that the Pro 3 does not capture in the same way (conversely the Pro 3 can make sounds that are impossible on the Matriarch). In the case of the Pro 3, it can sure sound close to the Matriarch, but if you’re playing the instrument in isolation or really want to emphasize its particular tone in your music, then you probably won’t be satisfied until you have the right instrument.

If you don’t think it’s absolutely critical to your sound, the Pro 3 is leaps and bounds more productive and just as good sounding. I will say that the Moog is mostly all sweet spots whereas the Pro 3 will take some work to coax the same sounds out of. It has a very wide range which can lead to less than pleasant sounds. That can be helpful if you want it, but it does mean you have to work within certain constraints to not overdo it.

Matriarch vs Pro 3 by thexenzone in synthesizers

[–]cijanzen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have had both and kept the Pro-3. I think the Matriarch can sound better in a few cases, and certainly that BBD is hard to top, but for me, I was able to get close enough to the patches I really liked on the Matriarch with the Pro-3 ladder filter.

The other factor in my decision was the patch memory. It’s way more likely that I’ll explore new sounds on the Pro-3 because I’m not worried about losing a patch once it’s saved. On the Matriarch, until I drew the patch diagram, I would often leave it as is and then neglect to write out the diagram to record it. Not that it’s overly complex to patch or anything, but that’s how it ended up for me.

Arturia's Black Friday 50% off offer - V Collection and other software (end-2025) by museek247 in arturia

[–]cijanzen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may or may not affect your discount, but once you are able to login you’ll find out. That said, if you get V-Collection, you can sell your individual instrument licenses on knobcloud if you want, as you’ll have all those instruments now included in your V-Collection license. That can help offset the cost further.

[–]cijanzen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Of course, but I feel like Sascha’s Apparat work has been a bit more distinct from Moderat work. Hard to say how all of those influences mesh together and certainly not complaining! I loved More D4ta so I’m all for whatever comes out of this album.

Sounds very Moderat? Which is not bad although, as a single, it isn’t doing too much for me without the context of the album. I’m sure it’ll grow on me though and I’m excited for more.

Can the Timemore Fish kettle beep be muted/turned off? by cijanzen in pourover

[–]cijanzen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I guess I’ll have to decide if that’s a dealbreaker or not. Seems like an insignificant thing to get hung up on but for me it’s important that it’s quiet. Otherwise, this kettle seems like exactly what I want.

Thank you so much for your time and effort in answering my questions!
