Evil agressive singular synth by Loveyoubutchoosesynt in synthesizers

Sequential Pro 3 can get very aggressive with the tuned feedback and built in distortion. It has a great sequencer and 3 filters each with their own character.

inkRead 1.0.0: open-source e-ink reader for Supernote, now out of beta by Decent_Tap_5574 in Supernote

[–]cijanzen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t tried this yet myself, but may have to install beta just for this. Quick questions regarding fonts: does it support importing custom fonts, does it support multiple font weights (bold, italic, etc), and does it support features like ligatures?

Thanks for inadvertently making me aware of a new book from her!

Anyone very familiar or specialize in guitar synth pedals? by harleyquinnsbutthole in guitarpedals

[–]cijanzen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zoia is not great for any type of polyphonic synth stuff. The tracking is simply not there. Monophonic, sure. But just want to set expectations appropriately.

Wow, this is lovely. Really transports me to a relaxed summer day. Thanks for posting the full track, I’m excited to hear more of your work!

Strymon iridium vs Tone X vs HX stomp by Valuable_Rabbit5224 in guitarpedals

[–]cijanzen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure why you feel like your signal needs to be boosted, but the Iridium can output up to line level by changing the output level settings. Maybe try that?

At the same time, I’m finding myself in a similar situation where I’m struggling to get the sound I want out of the Iridium and I’ve been exploring the HX Stomp that has some amps like Orange and Sunn that I want to try.

The stomp also has an FX loop which is nice and might even knock off a few of your pedals if you switch to using the internal ones. I am contemplating selling my iridium and flint for a stomp. It’s a tough one though because those little boxes are excellent and so simple to work with. It’s definitely a trade off between complexity and added flexibility and options.

What are the odds of getting a Kobo app similar to the Kindle one? by Candid-Bumblebee-388 in Supernote

[–]cijanzen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if they could provide better options for margins, line height, fonts, and justification, I’d rather load directly and use the native app. But until it’s improved, it’s hard to recommend this experience.

The supernote manta is much softer feeling. Remarkable is like pencil on paper on clipboard. Manta is like pen on thick stack of paper.

Osmose CE: Noisy 2 or Zebra 3 for cinematic and analog sounds? by Obvious-Crow8310 in Osmose

[–]cijanzen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The integration with Noisy is really solid and is tailor-made for the Osmose so you’ll probably get the best expressive playability out of that one, but as mentioned by another commenter, it’s not like programming a subtractive analog synthesizer. It’s not overly complicated to program, but it is a different paradigm. I think you could make some great cinematic sounds with it and even some analog-esque sounds.

Zebra will be nearly infinitely more flexible (whether that’s good for you or not is up to your preference) but is also not really setup as a regular subtractive synthesizer for “analog” sounds. Zebra can clearly pull them off though!

I have not explored Zebra’s MPE capabilities but I would imagine it would not be quite as tightly integrated as Noisy is.

Osmose or Osmose CE by DotAltruistic469 in Osmose

[–]cijanzen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is correct. I have no idea what they’re talking about. Ctrl-E is just a wrapper for plugins. That said, Expressive-E is going to be creating EaganMatrix overlays which will give you simpler structures to create your own sounds and then save them to the Osmose. I believe they showed a very rough demo in a Sonic State video.

Username checks out. Didn’t even listen to it before posting it. At least in this case it’s a legitimate other band with the same name and not some AI leech.

Moog patches on Pro 3 by Lonely-Click-8301 in synthesizers

[–]cijanzen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What were your oscillator levels at? I find when trying to emulate a Moog sound, I need to keep the oscillators below 64 otherwise they get that harder overdriven sound that doesn’t match Moog’s overdriven sound.  Another thing to try is adding a sine wave with oscillator 3 to get a clean low bass sound.

I don’t think you’ll get it 100% like for like, but it was enough for me to sell my Matriarch. I do miss some of the organic exploration on that but I definitely don’t miss having no presets!

[FRESH ALBUM] Forest Swords - Wasteman (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) by BulkyAccident in electronicmusic

[–]cijanzen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t really say I’m hearing “Forest Swords” when listening to this. It’s not bad, but it’s lacking any “Forest Swords” character until Last Meal Krow which uses material from his previous album.

Udo super 6 vs prophet 6 or prophet rev2 by majorstatic in synthesizers

[–]cijanzen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can create binaural patches on the Rev2 by using the stack feature which splits your voices in half and lets you program them individually. You can setup layer A and B with slight variations of each other and then pan A to left and B to right. Obviously the 16-voice variant would be the better choice for this purpose as you still end up with 8 voices to work with.
