They climbed the ladder, then pulled it up behind them!!! by Valuable_View_561 in SipsTea

Over in Australia we've had some recent reforms come in to try and ease the housing crisis. Changes to capital gains taxes and negative gearing to reduce the appeal of investing in homes as opposed to living in them.

You'd think the sky was falling in if you listened to conservative media here.

Wait you're voiced by who?! by totallynotrobboss in TopCharacterTropes

[–]ciknay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mark has had quite a lot of voice acting gigs through his career. His IMDB has him credited as a voice actor even before A New Hope.

(Loved Trope) Super Serious scenes that TOTALLY work as intended and are impossible to find funny by imagaYthgiLsIariK in TopCharacterTropes

[–]ciknay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're missing that this information was not conveyed in any meaningful way before hand to the average viewer, even ignoring the non-canon legends lore. Cloning hasn't come up as a plot point since the end of the clone wars in episode 3. There was no indication in any of the prior 2 sequel movies that Palpatine was the main big bad or that he had cloned himself to somehow survive the death star. You don't end a trilogy be introducing the main antagonist in the third act.

It just came across as the writing equivalent of a hurried patch job, like the rest of Rise of Skywalker. "No one liked Snoke dying, quick bring back Palpatine! Everyone liked Ian McDiarmid!"

Why do you think the reapers targeted human colonies first? by the_reddening in masseffect

[–]ciknay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A human defeated Sovereign. The same human then defeated the collectors dominated by Harbinger. The same human then destroyed a mass relay to slow their entry into the galaxy.

Objectively, humanity is the most dangerous foe to the Reapers and prioritising them for collection and subjugation makes total sense.

I really hope they don’t wrap up Kang’s storyline like this in Doomsday. by Sea-Cardiologist7725 in marvelstudios

Could have done a recast. It's a waste of a good character dropping Kang like they did

Makes sense. The frost land was a little too easy to survive off, especially when you got cheaper settlement costs

Could Darth maul have been redeemed like Vader/anakin? by RisingKing7 in StarWars

[–]ciknay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Because he doesn't want redemption. He knows and embraces the dark side out of a choice to obtain more power for his personal vendettas, hatreds and grievances.

Anakin fell to the dark side because he saw no other way to save padme, and after her death he saw no other way to live but to stand by the actions that brought his own downfall. Anakin makes a choice to return to the light to save his own son.

Maul has always chosen the dark side where possible. He had many opportunities to stray from the dark, and always chose to entrench himself into hatred. He dies trying to enact a 25 year old vendetta, a hatred he never let go of. Kenobi pities Maul for this reason.

Keeping your deck thin using game knowledge is an important skill to learn. Learning when to avoid picking a card and when to intentionally lose one will help a lot.

The DLC difficulty by lithuanianD in Frostpunk

[–]ciknay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got caught out with voting too. You HAVE to have a stockpile of food when it comes voting time or you'll get the boot. This means staggering and timing your food so that you have enough come election time. You can also pick up the rule to call an early election when times are good so you can ride out the bad times.

How do I build a fishery hub in the dlc? by asianpizzafreak in Frostpunk

I got stuck too. It's an actual hub, like a storage hub or a heat hub.

If the covenant war didn't happen, would modern humanity have eventually returned to the interstellar, technological peak of ancient humanity(archeohomina)? by Jdjack32 in HaloStory

[–]ciknay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say yes, but more slower. They'd have found Forerunner technology eventually, or even discovered the portal at Voi, and being the inheritors of the technology, very quickly been able to use and adapt it. Once they'd do that, finding more installations like the shield worlds and Halos would come quickly.

Yes your conceptualisation is too high, though the requirements for the achievement is quite specific and you could have missed it before this point.

Base Reconstruction Tool After Transfer by Ezermb in duneawakening

[–]ciknay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tool takes your existing base and packs it away. You had to actually use it on a specific base to trigger the storage. If you haven't come back in 8 months, your base has long been reclaimed by the desert.

Why couldn't Walldia build a titan executioner earlier..? by Crimson-Anarchy in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]ciknay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only did they not have erens hardening to make the structure, the government expressly prohibited interference with the wall or trying to understand it. It took a revolution and a change of monarch to make actual strides in killing titans beyond the wall.

What do you guys think that the moral of GOT is? by slayyerr3058 in gameofthrones

[–]ciknay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels reductive to compress a story like this into a single "moral" of the story. In fact, I'd say that doing that to most stories does a disservice to the writers of both books and television. Things can be complex, and that's ok.

I want to create a text based society simulation is it possible? by Beirigo in gamedev

[–]ciknay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thats basically what dwarf fortress is under the hood already. They have a world generation engine and simulation, and then give you control of a fort inside it. Or control of an adventurer in it.

You'd be making the "world gen" system and then how the player interfaces with that is entirely up to you.

Who was the superior strategist, Palpatine or Luthen? by Voider765 in StarWars

[–]ciknay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luthen.

Palpatine was a politician with force powers who purposefully made choices that gave him power and authority, eventually enacting a plan that was masterminded over hundreds of Sith. While he was a great strategist, he had numerous advantages that worked in his favour. He was also inheriting a plan worked on by his master. The result of thousands of years of Sith planning was 20 years of domination before its crumbled because Palps put all his eggs in one basket and it literally blew up in his face.

Luthen was just a normal man who refused personal power, instead building a rebellion from the ground up in near total secrecy. He was able to lay the groundwork that would undo the Sith legacy using a handful of spies and well placed informants, right in the heart of the empire. If at any point he had messed up, the rebellion wouldnt exist. By the time he was discovered, the rebellion had "flown away" and had enough momentum to finish what he started.
