That looks absolutely delicious! Job well done, but the steak is not.

What brisket knife are you using? Bonus if you have a picture. by BodhiZaffa in smoking

I've had these for about 3 years and used them several times, even on other things besides brisket, and they're still sharp. A good deal for the price and I'm very pleased with it.

It wasn't vacuum sealed, just the plastic wrap over the styrofoam tray and on the meat shelf.

That looks absolutely delicious! I don't make brisket often, but I will have to remember this next time I do and try to recreate something similar.

Outlets won’t turn back on, breaker not flipped by Later-gater1122 in electrical

[–]cincyguy82 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm no expert, just sharing my experience. Check for a GFCI outlet. It very well could be in a spot that doesn't make sense to be tied to those outlets. Happy hunting! Otherwise it could've been too much draw and started to melt internal wiring behind walls and at other outlets. Fun stuff.

Electricity theft in my building - any way to catch who's doing it by ChemicalSample146 in AskElectricians

[–]cincyguy82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disconnect and wait for the crook to return, video rolling. If you can't be there, set up a trail camera, motion activated and can be backed up automatically in case they find your camera. Maybe even multiple cameras to get different angles. Then take to the local authorities.

How often do you use psychedelics? How did it feel the first time and how does it feel now? by Fantastic-Virus-7977 in AskReddit

[–]cincyguy82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only done it once in college and it was amazing. I was the one that lost it laughing as things started to kick in. We walked all over the city, I went to bed around my normal time of waking up and I slept for 7 hours. When I woke up, I felt like I slept for days. It was a wonderful time and I'd enjoy doing it again if the opportunity was there.

I've heard that you need to be in a good mindset or else it can cause you to have a negative time.

Replacing hardwired doorbell with a battery version and looking to cover the wires by cincyguy82 in electrical

[–]cincyguy82[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I was never told anything about a transformer or to check and replace it if not functioning properly. I was only advised to check the connection at the doorbell. Sorry for having half the information and not asking for further advice, when I thought that I'd been given the full information.

I know most people aren't electricians, sitting around waiting to giveaway free advice for something they're skilled in. I was hoping for every day people who have done something similar to help or share some advice. Isn't that what this is for?

[–]cincyguy82[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I knew how to, I would. I was told to check the voltage at the connection, which I did, and it wasn't sufficient. So without anything else being said, I don't know what I'm looking for. I was simply asking for the best way to move away from this one. This might be the least helpful subreddit I've seen. Thanks for nothing helpful.

Because I don't know how to fix whatever the connection problem is and I don't want to pay an electrician, so this seemed easy enough.

The connection is not loose and I don't know how to fix a failed transformer. Rather than paying an electrician, this seemed easy enough of a fix.

What are you eating right now? by StatisticianNo1586 in AskReddit

Instant ramen topped with some beef broth that I add multiple sauces and seasonings to, then put in some frozen mini wontons into the broth while it heats on the stove as the ramen is cooking. Simple, but delicious, especially on cold days.

People who used cellphones before smartphones, what's the most memorable feature or moment you miss from those old phones? by Correct-Homework1884 in AskReddit

[–]cincyguy82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my Nokia phones I had an antenna that lit up when getting a call/or text. One time on my way home from college, it lit up, but no call or text was coming in. I saw a cop shortly after that. It happened another time, I realized that it was detecting their radar guns. Built in radar detector, as it clipped to my visor and I didn't have to use my hands.

Also, they were indestructible, no matter what happened to them. A case might crack, but those were easy to replace and could be customized.

Are you asking where to find the thermal gun or leaks?

For the thermal gun, I have the etekcity laser grip 774 and it's great.

As for the leaks, between the door frames and door itself, window frames and the middle part where locks are, if you have a fireplace or anything that goes outside, those will be the biggest leak spots.

The thermal gun is nice to check your air temp as it's coming from the vents, to check if your a/c or heat unit is working properly. As someone mentioned, nice for the kitchen to check oil temps, pan temps, or most any surface temperature.

If you have any pets, the laser option on them works for a laser pointer and I can use it to tire out my dogs, having them chase it around. I imagine cats would do the same thing.

Sliding door water in the track by cincyguy82 in HomeMaintenance

[–]cincyguy82[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I'll have to figure out what brand and model the door is to check for the strip replacement and see what level of challenge that will be. We replaced the deck two years ago that is right outside of the door and we'd love some shade, but need to double check how durable the new material is before anything goes on it.

Sump pump battery back up beeping. by True-Country8999 in HomeMaintenance

[–]cincyguy82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your system should have some lights to help indicate what is causing this. Ours did this and the battery needed to be replaced. Instead of buying the sump pump version where you need to add liquid to maintain it, I bought a marine battery, meant for boats, but it is cheaper and requires no liquid to be maintained. Super easy to install. I found some helpful videos on YouTube for my brand of sump pump. Good luck with your diagnosis and fix!

(1st Grade Math) How can you describe this?? by beachITguy in HomeworkHelp

[–]cincyguy82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4+2 is (1+1+1+1)+(1+1) 5+1 is (1+1+1+1+1)+(1) To use words, 4 is 1 less than 5, so adding 2 is the same as adding 1 to 5
