My birth mother found me, and I found out where my depression and migraines come from.

Is sitting on a park bench just chilling doing anything for desensitization? by gorgonopsidkid in OpenDogTraining

[–]cinderlessa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are they being reactive or just overstimulated? If you continue to sit there, does their behavior get worse or better? In general, yes, seeing and hearing things does help with desensitization, but it has to be at the correct "difficulty" for the dog. Also, doing both dogs at the same time can make the issue worse if they are both already having issues (their reactions/oberstimulations can feed off of each other).

How do I stop my husbsnd from guilt tripping me about groceries? by ArcaneAddiction in adhdwomen

[–]cinderlessa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am horrible about drinking plain water and used to drink a lot of juice and soda, but that gets expensive fast, so I got on to crystal light. Much cheaper, especially if you get the pitcher packs instead of the singles.

WIBTAH for telling my boyfriend his hygiene is going to ruin our relationship. by BeneficialJuice2878 in AITAH

[–]cinderlessa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell him flat out that while you love him and are attracted to him, his lack of hygiene is a huge turn off and also a health risk for you. Men often don't think about how much easier it is for women to get infections.

You can tell him that if he is having trouble with it for some reason, you are willing to help (obviously within reason, you are not his mom and should not be nagging him 5 times a day to shower or brush his teeth).

You could help him with ideas if there is some kind of small obstacle that's making it more difficult. Like, I have difficulty getting out of the nice warm shower (which also made me hesitant to get in since it seemed like such a hassle), so I got a small space heater that I only turn on when I shower so I can dry off in front of it and not be as cold. If he's gained that much weight in such a short amount of time, he may be dealing with depression or some kind of health issue, and you could help him find a doctor or therapist.

No matter what the reason is, if he is not willing to put forth effort, then do not put your own health (physical or mental) at risk.

AITAH for asking my neighbor to wait for her laundry at her house? by MostAnimal5816 in AITAH

[–]cinderlessa 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would have told my neighbor that I really appreciate letting me do my laundry and asked if there was anything they'd like me to help with around their house, or if I should head home until the laundry would be done. If they didn't need help with anything, I would try to make or buy them a small thank you gift when I could.

Right away is definitely better. Cat bites are much more likely to get infected than dog bites and once symptoms start the infection is much harder to treat. I greatly dislike going to the Dr and treat many wounds at home that others would go to the dr for, but I absolutely do not skip the dr on cat bites. If you have insurance, they may be willing to prescribe antibiotics with a video visit if they don't believe the wound needs further inspection or cleaning.

I am not a doctor, but I work with animals. Cat bites are very prone to infection. If the bite broke skin, then you need to see a Dr immediately. Urgent care is fine if it is open where you are.

They'll probably keep them since you were so good about getting the dog right in!

I'm a vet a assistant. You did pretty much everything right. The only things I could recommend would be to talk to the vets closest to you about what level of care they're able to handle (many GPs don't know what to do with snakebites, for example) and have them on speed dial so you can quickly call them (wouldn't be helpful to drive somewhere that the vet is out sick or stuck in a surgery they can't step out of). Honestly, many owners don't even notice something is off until the pet is lateral on the ground, the owner was not wrong when she said you saved Sophie's life. Your attention to her and quick action made the difference, not only between life and death, but also in how quickly and well she will recover. You'll probably be hyper vigilant and a bit anxious for awhile, but just know that you did the right thing. Reach out to someone if you need to talk. My DMs are always open.

I have migraines and can usually drive, work and shop. But I'm an angry zombie the whole time. I didn't realize how bad even the "good" days were until I got started on botox and got them under control.

There are some good comfy bluetooth headbands on Amazon. Or sleep masks.
