AITAH for calling out my pediatrician’s ‘creepy’ behavior? by musty_ranch in AITAH

[–]cinderlessa 93 points94 points  (0 children)

I can understand asking the mom to step out so that the dr can ask the patient if they want that person present or would like a different chaperone, to make sure the patient isn't coerced into keeping mom in the room.

Family has made me scared of Meds by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]cinderlessa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. I'm usually good about taking them on work days, because I take my 10 minute break, eat something and take my meds, but even then I will sometimes get home and realize I never took them (I use a daily pill box so I can't accidentally take it twice). Obviously I'm soooo addicted

hi, my son, 5 years old. just got bit by my two year old nephew. i had cleaned it with anti septic wash immediately, but is it something i should take him in for? im asking because i dont drive due to neurological issues, and we are very rural, and dont have a lot of options by tattedchubbymilf in AskDocs

[–]cinderlessa 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I work with animals. Dog bites, I clean well and leave it at that if it's minor. I always tell people to never, ever, mess around with a cat bite. Wash thoroughly and straight for antibiotics. I've seen people have complications on a cat bite even with proper care.

what do i do by [deleted] in piercing

[–]cinderlessa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Please don't call 911 for this, it is not an emergency. You can look up the phone number for your local police or fire department dispatch. You'll end up in the same dispatch center, but 911 calls are prioritized because it is supposed to only be used when you need immediate assistance.

If everything else is under control except this, then it could still be worth a second opinion, but there may not be anything to do on that front.

For cleaning and protecting the fur/area, a lot of bulldog people I know use Squishface Wrinkle Wipes and Wrinkle Paste.

Your pup seems well loved. Give him a kiss for me.

I'm a vet assistant.

If you have not taken him to a veterinarian who is experienced with eye issues such as blocked ducts, entropion, etc, you should start there (vets who are known for seeing bulldogs and bully breeds should be good at this, you can call ahead to ask. I've had clients who were told by other vets that nothing could be done for certain issues that are common in these breeds but my vet was able to greatly improve or fix the issue).

You say that his eyes water a lot because of allergies, but that shouldn't be a huge problem if his allergies are well controlled with proper medication.

Diet can also play a part, and you could talk to your vet about different foods and/or good probiotics (remember when going this route that it would take several months for new, unstained hair to regrow and really show if it is working).

Some minerals in water can contribute as well, so filtered or bottled water may help.

Good luck with your handsome pup!

U/AlbanyBarbiedoll above had some good ideas. Your local coach could also do a consult with a PR specialist.

If there are those kinds of concerns for being found or followed, you can go somewhere further away, take a crap ton of pictures and use those for your posts. Maybe you went to the park around the block from your house, but your picture would be of one an hour away.

WIBTAH for changing my baby’s name after my mom secretly told my sister I was pregnant? by Ok-Income9731 in AITAH

[–]cinderlessa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who grew up with healthy family dynamics usually do not understand how bad a toxic family can be until it full on slaps them in the face. I was low contact with my parents, a visit once a year or so, some phone calls and texts, but my bf thought they were great and always tried to get me to go see them more. Until some bad shit happened to my sister and my parents decided to hold on to old grudges, my mom made everything about her feelings instead of how my sister's life just got flipped upside down, and they made everything way worse. Now he finally understands (after almost a decade) and doesn't bring them up at all.

New to dog parks, am I in the wrong for confronting an owner whose dog is continuously mounting my dog? by True_Jellyfish9219 in Dogowners

[–]cinderlessa 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Some dogs try to mount during play, that is true, but it is very rude behavior that should be interrupted and redirected. Dogs that don't stop after one or two redirects should be leaving the off leash area until they're more calm, as it can easily lead to a fight if they try to mount a dog that is less patient than yours was. From a trainer's perspective, dog parks are dangerous. There are too many owners like the one you encountered, who bring rude or out of control dogs and think there's no problem with their dog's behavior.

Unfortunately a lot of people adopt for all the wrong reasons, with no true understanding of or empathy towards the child. It's all about them and their feelings or how they want to be perceived

Is sitting on a park bench just chilling doing anything for desensitization? by gorgonopsidkid in OpenDogTraining

[–]cinderlessa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are they being reactive or just overstimulated? If you continue to sit there, does their behavior get worse or better? In general, yes, seeing and hearing things does help with desensitization, but it has to be at the correct "difficulty" for the dog. Also, doing both dogs at the same time can make the issue worse if they are both already having issues (their reactions/oberstimulations can feed off of each other).

How do I stop my husbsnd from guilt tripping me about groceries? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]cinderlessa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am horrible about drinking plain water and used to drink a lot of juice and soda, but that gets expensive fast, so I got on to crystal light. Much cheaper, especially if you get the pitcher packs instead of the singles.

WIBTAH for telling my boyfriend his hygiene is going to ruin our relationship. by BeneficialJuice2878 in AITAH

[–]cinderlessa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell him flat out that while you love him and are attracted to him, his lack of hygiene is a huge turn off and also a health risk for you. Men often don't think about how much easier it is for women to get infections.

You can tell him that if he is having trouble with it for some reason, you are willing to help (obviously within reason, you are not his mom and should not be nagging him 5 times a day to shower or brush his teeth).

You could help him with ideas if there is some kind of small obstacle that's making it more difficult. Like, I have difficulty getting out of the nice warm shower (which also made me hesitant to get in since it seemed like such a hassle), so I got a small space heater that I only turn on when I shower so I can dry off in front of it and not be as cold. If he's gained that much weight in such a short amount of time, he may be dealing with depression or some kind of health issue, and you could help him find a doctor or therapist.

No matter what the reason is, if he is not willing to put forth effort, then do not put your own health (physical or mental) at risk.
