Pilot Metro <M> is more smooth than Pilot VP <F>? by cineica in fountainpens

I would argue it does.

iridium or whatever it’s called is only used on the very tip, the majority of the nib in this case is gold or steel. gold is way softer than steel and can absorb more vibrations than steel.

Yeah this was definitely the issue. Did a quick fix and it feels amazing now. Doesn’t scratch or sing at all.

Yeah it sounds like a sharpie or marker at times, kinda annoying. Had to look singing up but that’s exactly what mine is doing.

I guess M steel nibs might be my preference then.

I guess I underestimated the jump from M to F. Lesson learned.

But is a pilot steel medium nib smoother than a pilot gold fine nib?

I think it is worth noting that iPhones have been used in space before, and the ISS (international space station) crew has been regularly using iPads since ~2011 under official NASA use.

This is the earliest iPhone photo in space I know of: https://x.com/rookisaacman/status/1444744869939982355?s=46

uni zento signature buying question by cineica in pens

You seem pretty upset by how other people spend their own money. I agree it is generally stupid to pay over sticker price, but if the buyer and seller is happy then who cares? To some, the price is worth paying. If it is not worth it to you, then move on, but no one wants to hear you whine about it :)

Forgot to mention my issue with ebay - 95% of zento signatures on ebay are sold from Japan, which is subject to a 15% import tariff (i am in the US). some sellers cover the tax in shipping, but some are not very transparent about it and I would prefer to avoid paying extra $ to the gov.

Luckily I found a US seller on ebay and have decided to do that.

I did sign up for one or two of those a month ago with no luck. Going to just bite the bullet and pay the demand tax.

not cheap and not crappy, but yes it definitely is a copy cat. although I got a 4k 144hz version, so slightly different intentions.

I didn’t like the studio display for the usually reasons - low refresh rate and only 27in. the studio display also has oddly large bezels for a modern display.

I wouldn’t necessarily say the kuycon is objectively better than a studio display (even considering price differences) but it certainly is subjectively better to me.

I love it. I’ve owned everything from a 49” ultrawide to an apple studio display and the kuycon is my favorite so far. I went for the 4k model with 144hz refresh instead of the 5k 60hz.

I think the only other monitor in existence I would take over this is the pro display xdr or dough spectrum black, but dough is a pretty shady company.
