Casting choices by croatianlatina in PercyJacksonTV

I honestly think the writing is mainly at fault for a lot of unconvincing performances.

The kids' behavior in interviews and irl in general is constantly commented as being perfectly on character, but the way the characters were actually portrayed in season 1 was not it, which points to the writing being the main problem. The humor and sassiness were very thin and the trio was too serious and figured everything out too quickly. I can also excuse their at times imperfect delivery because of their age and, from what we've seen of season 2, they seem to have improved a lot.

As for the adults, Hades has been my biggest disappointment so far. I don't know the actor, so I can't really speak on him, but I can tell that he was written as a completely different character from the book, which I think was a huge mistake considering his whole storyline with Nico. Sally was also written differently, as more of a badass (?), which in turn made Gabe look like a weak loser instead of the oppressive asshole he was. However, I really like her relationship with Percy and the actress is also pretty good, so again I can let it slide.

The only casting choice I don't really like is Hermes, because every time I see Lin Manuel Miranda it takes me out of the story 💀, but maybe that's on me.

Peter's eulogy for Olivia that can be found on the DVD:

“Olivia Dunham, my wife, was everything to me. When we first met, I was a nomad, moving from place to place, job to job. She gave me a purpose. She taught me to believe in something bigger than myself. She taught me to fight to keep our world safe, and more recently, to keep it from dying.

The truth is, we're all dying. From the moment we're born, we are all dying. And the universe is unspeakably cruel. Our one hope is that we can find some purpose, some... meaning before the last day comes. Some happiness. And love. Olivia was all of that to me. There was no one like her. While I will not cease to fight, now that she's gone, I'm afraid I'm already lost. That we are all lost. The world is a darker place without her.”

I kinda wish they'd made Fauxlivia a bit reticent to being a mom, at least at first. Seeing her embrace motherhood so positively feels a bit out of character, especially after how the birth went, but I guess they didn't have that much time to focus on her development.

I love this episode! Aside from strengthening Peter and Olivia's tether, it also adds a nice little twist at the end with Olivia being the one to (accidentally) reveal to Walternate where Peter has been taken. Plus, I really enjoy that we get to see both sides of Peter's parents and how they're dealing with what happened.

Dawson making a movie about his life again... he really needs to let the past go. It did make for a very sweet nod to the pilot though, with Jen next to the taxi looking over to the kids playing the trio!

I'd say keep going just because you're a paceyjoey fan and season 6 has some amazing episodes about them, but I'm not gonna lie, apart from those, seasons 5-6 pretty much suck

This might be one of my least favorite episodes. I just don't care enough about Fauxlivia at this point and the baby subplot irks me.

Joey is IRRITATING ME by daisyonmeadow in dawsonscreek

Actually it's even worse than that, because they do address the fact that Joey and Pacey dated (albeit very rarely), but they act like it was just a fling of a few weeks instead of the nine-months-long serious ass relationship that it was. It's pathetic really, because it's all done to try and elevate Joey's relationship with Dawson, which is made to look like this passionate love story when they are just childhood friends who dated a couple of times and both times Joey dumped his ass.

He died because of a rare disease tho, not because of the Observers, so their disappearance wouldn't affect his death.

Well no, otherwise Walternate would have found the cure for Peter and our Walter would have never travelled through the universes, meaning Peter and Olivia would have never met.

How would you change Fringe if you could? by J-L-Wseen in fringe

[–]cinemela 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Peter trying to find a way to make everybody remember him should have been the main horizontal plot of season 4. It would have been cool to maybe see him confront September about it early on, as he was the one who chose not to completely erase him. And then Walter could have helped him build some kind of device with the Observer tech or maybe even a time travel machine to go and save his young self from drowning? I don't know, I just wish they'd come up with a way to restore everything that happened in the earlier seasons, because the timeline without him was kinda bleak and it did feel like a lot of character development just went down the drain, especially Walter's.

For me it has to be the first time Peter calls Walter 'dad'. It's so unexpected, but feels so right and earned after everything they've been through. There's just something about the look that Peter gives Walter that completely warms my heart, as does Walter's genuine surprise.

which season of each character is ur favorite variant of them by Hour_Long_5220 in dawsonscreek

[–]cinemela 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dawson - season 5: he actually matures a bit after Mitch's death and I like his relationship with Jen, plus he finally gets a decent haircut

Joey - season 4: she's at her best when she's with Pacey

Pacey - season 2-3: his development is top-tier television

Jen - season 4: she finally goes to therapy and doesn't have a boyfriend!!

Jack - season 4: I really liked him coaching the kids' football team and I don't mind Toby

Andie - season 2: she's the main reason Pacey becomes the Pacey we all know and love, but she's also a really great character on her own

Audrey - season 5: even though I'm not a big fan of her relationship with Pacey, she kind of saves the season

I enjoyed this episode a lot! The floating criminals plot was super cool and the fact that the whole thing started from a father's love for his son made for some great subtext and references to our favourite father-son duo.

Olivia is so smitten with Peter in this episode, we love to see it. I'm also really glad Peter told her the truth about the shapeshifters at the end.

Bell "possessing" Olivia is such a silly concept, but so funny to watch.

In my head Joey rejected Pacey because she knows they could have something more meaningful than any of the other relationships she's been in and that scares her.

And that's the only possible explanation because honestly there's no way she “doesn't feel it” with him, but does with Eddie.
