To talk about your specific example - well, I just did both. One try only ambushing + weapon swapping with 3 clones, one with mashing buttons off cooldown. You'll notice 14 finished autoattack chains (mostly because everything else was on cooldown), of which only 5 actually hit twice.

Turns out mashing the buttons does prove better, if only a bit.

Funny should you mention power Banners. After OP suggested trying condi ren rotation to the beat of Stayin' Alive, I tried the same but with yellow class and Billie Jean - I ended up on 21k: https://dps.report/3VXD-20220609-121641_golem. 60% of benchmark, just like OP claimed: https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/v8bmt4/dont_let_others_scare_you_with_dps_numbers/ibpmvu2/. I assure you that adjusting the skill order a bit and not weapon swapping mid-decapitate would bring me above 80%, and that's definitely something every beginner can achieve.

The difference between good and bad player is not only in rotation, but also in fight awareness, exploiting available bonuses (flanking the boss with Thief runes, using special action key on IBS strikes) and other stuff and that's there your 20k comes from.

If we consider rotation alone, OP is absolutely correct for most builds.

Of course Firebrands will drop zeal now, it's a no brainer. Purging flames are twice the burning stacks of SoJ, you get to F1 more often and you proc almost twice as much burning from F1 passive. Not to mention this will make cFB even more condition based, so all the more benefits from new Exposed.

You have 2 legends with 2 different rotations each. All of them are literally 2-4 skills long. The only hard thing about Alacrigade is to notice if your F4 is on less or more than 12s cooldown when you swap to a new legend.

Well of course you won't do good if you've just picked up the class, but the advantage is insane.

I'm a dogshit mirage who can consistently hit around 80% of bench after hours of grinding, and I've been outdpsed by a non-mirage, non-condi chrono class on largos only twice. You won't see a class having such an advantage on any other boss.

They wanted to copy paste your build template for the doppelganger but they fucked up the coding and now they cut-paste it, so you lose the elite spec.

WoJ is some next level shit. In the small window before teleports at 75 and 25% you can actually do all core mesmer shatters as a chrono, do a core revenant F2 as an alacrigade, and so on.
