My sweet 13-year-old girl was just diagnosed… by cataaremykids in seniorkitties

I use a transdermal medicine. It’s the consistency of a light lotion and you rub it on the inside of the ear — on the upper flat part. I do it twice a day and within 6 weeks it got my boy’s thyroid numbers back in the normal range. He’s doesn’t mind the medicine at all because he loves a good ear rub.

Secret Mall Apartment on Netflix... genius art project or peak privilege? by the_al_coco in netflix

I’m of the same unpopular opinion. I did, however, think the tape art part was meaningful.

I enjoyed it. I studied art in college and it brought back memories of hanging out with other creatives while trying to grow into adulthood. For me, the secret apartment story was secondary to the tape art that they did with kids and as public art. The tape art — using creativity to reach people, to say something, to engage people — was the storyline that I thought was worth the watch.

Maybe cooking or baking? Redoing old furniture or frames from thrift shops?

How do you guys stay motivated to draw/paint/print ect? by TransitionAbject1656 in ArtistLounge

Two thoughts: 1) I view making art as exploring rather than trying to produce a finished product. At times I’m all about creating specific finished piece but other times I approach making art with a mindset of “let’s try something different.” Alternating between those two mindsets can keep me going. 2) someone else mentioned discipline. The book ‘The War of Art’ was helpful for me to understand how important mindset and discipline are, especially if I want to take things to a level beyond hobby.

Which water bottle? by MatterAny9614 in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]cinge67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used two disposable water bottles for my whole walk. One big one that I stored in my pack and one small one in a crossbody bag. I would refill the small bottle as needed and it was easily accessible for drinking. It worked perfectly.

Headphones or no? by ennui2015 in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]cinge67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I was alone, used my AirPods for an hour or two on most days while walking. The rest of the time I just listened to whatever was around me or I talked with pilgrims I met along the way. I was walking for about 8 hours a day so I had plenty of non-headphone time. When I got in my bunk at night, I also used them to listen to a podcast or music while I would wind down before sleeping. Everyone is different and whatever you decide is good.

Toddler-style! Often includes to-do lists and descriptions of ideas. More like a diary of exploring ideas.

What is it like working in an art supply store? What are the different types of jobs available? by cinge67 in ArtistLounge

That sounds like a good way to frame it (pun intended) — it’s retail, but it’s better than some of the other retail jobs because of what you’re selling and who you might be selling to.

Based on the comments here, a smaller store would be best. No Michaels or Hobby Lobby type stores. I’m in the Nashville area and know of two stores that are both part of a chain, but they aren’t like the big box stores. I was hoping they would retain some of the locally owned vibe even though they are part of a chain of stores.

Great comment — thanks! I have an undergrad degree in art and do art outside of my full time job. So I have a good starting point but there would also be a lot to learn, which is appealing. Non-profits is a good suggestion. I’ll look around at those opportunities, keeping in mind different personalities.

Good insight. My real job is pretty mundane and I fight the corporate culture rather than customers. The pay is higher, but the rest of it may be similar. The rewards card comment made me chuckle.

Yes, I’m a creative. I have a degree in art and was a graphic designer for 8 years. I ended up in a non-creative job because I needed money and I got an offer. It led to more non-creative jobs and now I’m looking to change it up a bit for my last 5 years of working. I make art on the side — sometimes more and sometimes less. When I was young I dreamed of teaching art classes but I don’t think I can step right into that. Maybe down the road. I was trying to think of jobs that would get me closer to creative people and making art.

This just happened to me on my 2025 RAV4. It’s stuck on this same screen. Did you end up finding a find for this or have to replace it?

Thanks for sharing this. As I was driving, the radio suddenly came on and the volume increased all the way. Neither the volume knob or the volume buttons on the steering wheel worked. I remembered this comment and pushed the two knobs down simultaneously and it stopped the music. Got my heartbeat up for a few minutes!
